They might or might not tell you to take pictures of the damages that pre-exists of the car. I was told that the car was spotless, and only by "accident" training from other times, I took pictures of two big obvious damages. (The cars are parked very close to each other, to get a 360 degree inspection was not possible, and if you move the care for better access to inspection, who would have made the scratches then?... quite a neat way... Luckily the pictures gave me the foundation to argue against, when they wanted to argue that a scratch which I missed taking a picture of and which was in perfect alignment, same depth and same dust layer to the one I took the picture of was due to my driving. Saw only now that others here in the comments had similar accusations, and did not had the luck to fall back on pictures. "It seems advanced, digitalised" first rental that actually removed the accident protocol and trusts in pictures. But then there would be some app, protocolling the damage from the previous owner! This loose handling and not following up on scratches seems quite some well orchestrated dance. So be careful, ask them to pull out the car from the lot for 360 good access inspection, make loads of pictures, or a very slow video, of the whole car, but be aware some stuff might be blurred out by your camera.
