Very unconscious, ignorant and extremely unfriendly way of dealing with people and nature. I came into contact with Simba Safaris at three points on my Northern Tanzania safari and came with the experience of more than 25+ trips to Africa, while I also work in the tourism industry. I have never encountered an attitude like that of Simba Safaris' guides. Careless driving and speeding in national parks are one thing, but playing deaf even when having someone directly in front of you asking a question and then just turning around and cracking jokes was the crowning glory. I lost my patience at the famous Ngorongoro Crater viewpoint, a place where you should normally feel one with mother nature. Thousands of people from all over the world dream of standing here, looking down at this natural wonder, enjoying the scenery and absorbing the sounds of silence (and birds). But: Simba Safaris has other plans and keeps its engines running while nobody is in the vehicle and all guests including guides are outside taking pictures. The entire atmosphere is drowned out by a loud humming diesel. I thought maybe the engine had some issues or they were just not aware how much this effects the experience of other visitors. So I asked the guide if he could kindly switch off his engine, not least for the sake of the environment but in order to enjoy this once-in-a-lieftime moment. Other guests wanted to take videos of the special atmosphere but you were inevitably surrounded by this engine sound. He just laughed at me and shook his head. So I yelled at him "Come on, please just turn off your engine" and he said "Mind your own business" then followed up with "I also want to keep the drinks cold in the cooler box" . What a gross, ignorant way of treating other visitors to this amazing country. Especially since the cool box is not operated directly via the ignition at all. Shortly after, another Simba Safaris vehicle arrived and this guide immediately started chatting with the other guide, pointing at me with a big sarcastic grin. Guess what: Now both left their engines running, so I asked our own guide to leave the place for something better. Without people like this. The day after we met again in Southern Serengeti and it comes with no surprise that they ruined a major sighting. Such guides, and thus considered to be role models of the country and their tourism industry, should have their license taken away. They bring shame to others who work hard and appreciate special places...
Read moreThere are not enough words in any language to describe our experience with Simba Safaris, specifically with our safari driver/guide, Geoffroy Bosco!
We had the pleasure of having a private safari with Bosco for 6 days. Bosco was beyond anything that we could have hoped for! He was funny, outgoing, professional and kind. We really clicked with him and he made our adventure a true adventure! He is so kind to nature from the smallest ant to the elephant and in return, nature is very kind to him! He was so respectful to nature that he even drove around a large ant colony trying to cross the road. In return, nature was so kind to him as we saw basically everything that you could dream of seeing during our time with him at Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti. Bosco's knowledge of every animal including all birds was extremely impressive! He also has an eagle eye and was able to spot things in the distance that I, myself, would have definitely missed! I still can't believe how he can spot animals and identify them like he does. He's VERY good at his job and you can tell he truly loves it!
He treated us with such care and professionalism during our time with him; you can tell he truly cares about his clients! Not to mention the attention to detail and the origination of the safaris as whole - everything was so smooth and seamless!
We developed a bond with Bosco that will be missed dearly!
If you are looking to book a safari, you will not regret booking with Simba Safaris! I strongly recommend them!! If you do, ask for Bosco to be your guide because you will...
Read moreOn 10 October, 2021 a Simba Safari guide with the license plate T474CTX was at Lake Manyara National Park at a picnic spot and began to aggressively throw heavy rocks at some of the baboons (that were nowhere near the tables). When I asked him to not throw any of the rocks, he was incredibly rude to me, and then went on to brag about how if I weren't there, he would "kill them with his own boots" and "he goes home and kicks them to death" when he is off work. Tourists come from all over the world to appreciate animals in their natural habitat, and WE are the ones intruding in on their space, especially in the national parks. How dare you have a guide who proudly brags about hurting and killing these animals, and has no shame in trying to hurt them, especially while tourists who are enjoying their presence are watching! What a horrible representation of...
