Disgusting service! The QR code payment system works poorly, but the staff is even worse! An hour ago, I wanted to buy coffee and it was paid for by tigo pesa. I show the SMS and the receipt to the cashier - she says she needs to wait for the SMS. She called some man and they waited together, overloading their phone, which had only been turned on for 5 minutes.
As a result, I spent there more than 30 minutes and they never received an SMS, it turns out that I just gave the store 20€. They didn't give me the coffee. But the most unpleasant thing is that all these people, the two cashiers and the manager, did not even think to at least apologize!
All their arguments were as if I wanted to deceive them!! I have been a customer of this store for longer than all of them work there, and that's not even the point, but the usual respect and an attempt to solve the situation normally and politely, and not stupidly proving to me that I'm trying to deceive them!!!
I called tigo support, they also confirmed to me that the transaction was successful.
I do not recommend this store if you do not want to feel like a cobbler for your own 20€ 🤬🤬🤬
UPD
Since I couldn't answer you, I'll add it here. I rated you one star not for a service error, but for the way your staff reacted to the situation. Your customers should not feel like thieves when you and the bank have something broken. But that's exactly how your staff behaves.
They saw so clearly that I was feeling unwell, I had to sit down waiting and none of them apologized, but only explained to me that I had to pay again and then they would refund one of the payments in cash. Of course, I didn't pay twice. It's enough that I've already given you 20euros. Bad service, unqualified staff.
New update
It’s been 9 months, so here’s an update. I went back to this store, and once again Tigo Pesa payment doesn’t work. Why on earth does your store always have this problem? Even the tiniest shops and the big ones — like the ZAN FRESH supermarket — accept Tigo Pesa everywhere. It’s a convenient local payment method.
Your prices are already quite high, and today I was planning to make a bigger purchase than usual, but I can’t — because my money is on Tigo Pesa, and I have very little cash. I don’t like using cash. On the island, this payment method works perfectly well almost everywhere — except in your wonderful store.
Why can’t you give customers the option to pay in a truly convenient local way? Do you really enjoy paying huge fees to the bank when foreigners use their cards at your store? No — Tigo Pesa is a very convenient payment method, but you ignore it and deliberately sabotage its use.
And by the way — there should be a clear notice on the entrance door saying you do not accept this payment method at the moment, because every time your cashiers lie that this problem “just came up.” No, it didn’t “just” happen — it’s been going...

Read moreUpdate on my review - I removed 2 stars as this place has really gotten worse since Ramadan. They completely changed the layout and removed a lot of products, including the fresh fruit and vegetables. Now it’s just overpriced imported products. The only reason to come is the gluten-free options or premium quality items that will cost you double what you’ll pay back home. Disappointed.
Shopping became a lot easier since The Town Supermarket opened. It’s not cheap, but you’ll find items not found anywhere else. For basic items you can find them cheaper elsewhere, but it’s convenient having everything in one place. I dropped one star because service can be slow, the last two times I visited there was only one check out open and a line of several people, there’s always plenty of staff but nobody seems to take the initiative to open another check out. Still, it’s good to have this option. We take all our Airbnb guests here after pick from...
