An Unforgettable MTB Adventure on Kilimanjaro
I recently had the incredible opportunity to embark on a mountain bike trip up Kilimanjaro, and it was an experience of a lifetime! From start to finish, every moment was filled with adventure, excitement, and awe-inspiring beauty.
First and foremost, the guides and staff (Hillary, Goodluck, Gasto, Rodger, Benson, David, Vincent, AbuBakari, James) were exceptional. Their knowledge, expertise, and professionalism ensured a safe and enjoyable journey. They were always available to answer questions, provide support, and ensured a fantastic time. In particulate, guides Gasto and Rodger provided good advice (Pole Pole) and were genuinely concerned over ensuring I was safe and
The trails used were well-maintained, offering a mix of challenging terrains that truly tested skills and endurance. Pedaling (and half the time pushing the bike) through lush rainforests, rocky paths, and even navigating steep ascents was an exhilarating experience. The breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes through towns, villages, plantations, jungle, moorland, alpine, 4x4 track, loose scree, and with the sun casting its golden glow over the majestic peaks during summit bid, left me speechless.
Moreover, the trip was organised to perfection. Logistics, accommodations (one night of tent camping and all other nights in huts), and meals were all top-notch, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience. The support team made sure we had everything we needed, from nutritious meals to comfortable rest stops along the way.
I cannot stress enough how this mountain bike trip up Kilimanjaro exceeded all expectations. It challenged me physically and mentally, pushing me to my limits while rewarding me with unparalleled natural beauty.

Read moreHow do I put into words this amazing experience! Let’s me start by saying, I booked this as a birthday trip for myself and while part of the bike tour was quite challenging, my tour guide Roger never gave up on me. The Chagga people along the route was so friendly and welcoming that it encouraged me to continue. Once reaching the top the views were breathtaking. Before the waterfall, I had the pleasure at stopping at Chimbo Point the coffee plantation tour. They made me feel so welcomed and made my birthday experience so special with there song and hospitality that I was literally in tears of joy! The lunch they prepared of their traditional food was delicious and the fuel I needed after a tough morning of cycling. Then I toured their farm which was so much more than coffee. Avocado, mango, banana, ginger was just to name o few of the lush agriculture. I was able to make my own coffee, from picking the beans, pounding and roasting the most amazing coffee. After the celebration we walked from there to the waterfall! The beautiful lush forests, with a deep rich red clay trail led us to the most amazing powerful waterfall cascading down 150meters . The cool crisp water was just the cooling off needed on a mid summer day of adventure! The ride back was mostly downhill so we raced down carefully. Roger was the best guide who went above and beyond to make sure my experience was a memory of a lifetime! I...
Read moreI have just returned from a cycling tour, with three friends, through Tanzania that was organised by One Bike Tanzania. The whole trip was absolutely fabulous and I can't recommend these guys highly enough. Everything ran like clockwork and they were great fun to be with. It far exceeded all of our expectations.
Our route took us 275km from the Kilimanjaro foothills to the entrance to the Ngorongoro caldera, which we did in 5 days. Really varied cycling and some inspired routes taking us into areas we never expected to see. The bikes were excellent Giant hard-tail MTBs that were virtually new.
The accommodation was far better than we dared hope for with good meals and healthy packed lunches.
Our trip included game-drives in Tarangire and Ngorongoro, that One Bike Tz arranged, and the transport and the guide were absolutely brilliant.
Also, the guys have a fabulous, charitable ethos and they have gifted several bikes to needy people in their community, with plans for many more. Chapeau!
Do yourself a favour and take this...
