I'm here in Moshi Tanzania volunteering at an NGO for a week. I've been having dinner many a night, so I've gotten to try many different foods. I have totally enjoyed each dish. It's made fresh, looks beautiful, tastes fabulous. They have a wide variety of food; Mexican, Italian, Tanzanian, American. A friend ordered the avocado toast and I was thinking avocado toast like I would get in my home town which tends to be little, a starter. This one was huge. The hummus added another dimension taking it to a whole other level. My only adjustment would be for the egg to be runny. I had the Mexican salad with chicken. It was wonderful. The tomatoes are so fresh, firm, and flavorful, corn salsa adds a touch of sweetness, I think it's romaine lettuce, it gives nice crunch, big plentiful chunks of luscious creamy avocado and shredded cheese. Not too much which was great for me. I don't handle diary well. It came with homemade flour tortilla chips. I liked dipping the chips in the dressing it comes with. Normally I don't put dressing on my salad, so it was nice the dressing came on the side, though it was delicious so I did use it. I also dipped my chips in it. I recommend getting the salsa and guacamole and adding that to it. I think I could have done well to share it was a lot of food. I also had the coconut fish fingers. They were great, I wasn't thrilled with the vegetables, they had no seasoning and were too soft for me, but when I mixed them with the 2 sauces it came with and a little hot sauce it was fine. The rice, I think, was to have coconut milk, but I didn't taste it. I could taste the coconut on the fish though and it was cooked nicely. I enjoyed it. Oh then there is dessert, smoothies, incredible Tanzanian coffee and... I could go on and on. Just go check it out. The food is made fresh so expect a little...
Read moreI love Courage Café as it is one of the very few spots in Moshi with great, fancy food from different cuisines. The inside of the café and especially the outside seating in front is created with love to details and very comfortable. Although it's a bit outside of the center of Moshi it's definitely worth a visit. I am a big fan of the sourdough bread and their selfmade hummus. In general there are quite a few vegan options. If you eat and drink there you can use the WiFi which is not the best but enough for your phone duties. Also the coffee you can buy to support their social welfare work is great. I can also recommend the Mexican Salad and the vegetarian burger!
I still need to criticize a few small things which could be improved. The baked goods like cinnamon rolls or cakes were twice quite dry and tasted like they've been baked a few days ago. As in a few other places in Moshi they have a plant based milk alternative on the menu but it's never available. I'd rather take it off the menu as it gets your hopes up to finally have a cappuccino with for example oat or coconut milk and then it's...
Read moreCame here for lunch while in Moshi. We really wanted to like this place as it has a great mission. One of the reasons we went here is because the menu had non-dairy milk on it, however they were apparently out. I got a smoothie instead and it was warm. Then we waited an hour and a half for our meals. My egg burrito came out in a puddle of water on the plate and was so soggy. The potatoes and salsa also weren’t in the burrito. Instead there was a very small portion of cold, flavourless chips on the side. My partner got the chicken Benedict and it didn’t come with the hollandaise as pictured/listed and was flavourless. All of our food was cold. The staff was nice enough and my partner said the coffee was good, but other than that, this was the worst meal we’ve had in 2 months in Africa. Very sorry as we really wanted to like this place and we were excited to try it, but the food was just extremely...
