There are many food stalls selling the typical thai food but also, some stalls selling snacks which are rare to find in Bangkok. ( I have attached some photos for reference). There are also stalls selling clothes and clay pottery. Only available during weekends.

You can rent a bicycle or walk to go around this small island. In my opinion, it is better to walk than cycle, because the pathways are actually quite narrow. Also, you can take in the sights much better as the stalls are located next to one another. The pathway is actually the circumference around the island. That being said, only a section of the entire pathway is taken up by the food stalls, hence, the remaining parts of the pathway are actually better to be explored if you have some form of transport. There are motorbike taxis at certain points of the pathway, such as where the markets end, where you will not see any crowd beyond. The motorbike taxi can take you through for 50 THB.

To get here, I went to Victory Monument BTS station, and walked to the bus stop that has bus 166. Just tell the ticket conductor you want to go to "Pak kret". The journey took about 40 minutes and costs 22 THB. Alight at the stop just before Wat Boa temple and just before the bus makes a U-turn. (Please use google maps to look up) (refer to attached photo) Then, walk ahead and turn left to Wat Boa temple. Walk through Wat Boa temple and exit through the back. Then walk along the shops lining the road to Wat Sanam Nuea temple. Walk through to the back of this temple to go to the pier to take the boat over to Koh Kret island. Pay the boat fare (3 THB) when it reaches Ko Kret.

On the return, you can go to the opposite side of the road to take bus 166 back to Victory Monument...

The artificial island near Bangkok, which was made after a canal was dug approximately 300 years ago in the are, is now a favourite getaway for the Locals of the city, and attracts an equal number of tourists from outside as well. The place is famous for the kind of environment that the place curates, the pottery markets, and other shopping avenues like the ever famous floating market of the area. Koh Kret Island Floating Market

Held on weekends, the Koh Kret floating market is famous for bringing the local attractions of the region and on display for you to buy and enjoy. Collect pottery, fresh produce, cutlery and other kitchen requirements as you float on a boat past other boats occupied by Thai women wearing traditional clothes and the traditional conical hats made of straw, giving you the best experience of the Bangkok floating markets.

Location- Nonthaburi, which is about 12 km from the centre of Bangkok

How to get here- You can easily get here by getting on bus 33 and bus 166. Also available are the options of taking a taxi to Pak Kret and then take the Ferry 2B from Wat Sanam Neua. For weekdays, take Chao Phraya Express Boat’s ‘green flag’ express that leaves every 20 minutes from Pak Kret

Best time- Any time of the year is good, however, if you wish to avoid crowds, then weekdays are preferable...

It was not long distance, only 32 km, but we took almost 2.5 hours to get from my home to OTOP village in Koh Kret, Nanthaburi province. But, it was worth it because this village is very unique, not because it is surrounded by the water of Chao Phraya river but because it provides real Thai culture and special products made locally by the people who are living on the island. The most impressive attraction I saw today was koh kret pottery village and the handcraft museum. When you visit the pottery museum you can be guided by a professional person to make your own special product and take it home for as little as 100 Bhatt 😊 There are shops on the island selling fresh Thai food, sweet and sovenigers at affordable prices. I loved the atmosphere and the views of the river from the restaurant where we had lunch and cold bottles of water for under 200 Bhatt. I loved also the beautiful old houses where most of them owned by eldrey people. To get to the Pak Kret, you can take bus number 505 from the city center, in front of the central world, after you arrive walk for a few minutes twords the river to catch the boat to take you to the island. Sobhy Fouad 22...
