Please avoid Ibrahim Pasa Hamami, especially if you are a woman.
I visited this hamam in August 2022 with my girlfriend for a massage. The man who massaged my girlfriend was extremely invasive and creepy. During her massage, he continually attempted to stroke all her private parts, even after she had given a clear "NO" and physically moved his hands away. He also tried to pull her bikini down, even after she had made it clear she wanted to keep it on. He barely focused any of his attention on other parts of her body, and kept his focus on her private areas.
My girlfriend was deeply shattered by this experience and after continued failed attempts to stop this man, she entered a freeze state and I believe she experienced psychological trauma. She spent the next few days in silence, breaking down occasionally into tears. She may need to process these feelings with a trained psychotherapist.
After seeing how badly she had been treated, I spoke to both the manager and the masseur, recounting my girlfriend's experience. They became very defensive, showing me photos of smiling tourists at the same spa who had "never had any problems here". The masseur argued that he would never have done anything so inappropriate, explaining that he viewed my girlfriend as one of his sisters or his mother.
That's all well and good mate, but don't pretend for a moment that you would attempt to touch your mother or sister's private parts.

Read moreThis place is surely a traditional one, chepa, and you can experience a hamami for locals. But as a tourist, it's worth to consider if the place is worth of visit. Nobody from staff spoke English, maybe just few words. There is only one room for everyone, including cooling pool, so if you are a woman and you want to e.g. jump into the cooling pool, count with some management around. I'm used to mixed saunas in my home country, but here I was a bit shy, as I'm not sure how many women go to the place and how much are the men used to that. The staff wants to make money and since we both didn't want to go for massage, neither for peeling, at some point, the masseur entered the steam bath room, told me to sit close to a water tap, and started to wash my hair with a shampoo and my body with some foam. I felt safe because my boyfriend was close by, but this was very quick for me and I think that you need to be prepared for this, including saying very strict no, if you don't want something, including the things you didn't ask for. After I was washer, the guy took my boyfriend for both hair and body washing. When the guy finished, he said that it's up to us to leave him some tip when we...

Wanted 60 minutes massage but got only 30 for massage (on marble slab) and 30 in sauna. 30tl is crazy cheap for 30 min massage though. Google pin is wrong. (See picture) It is one block over towards the Mosque (East). If you park on street someone will come over to charge you 3tl...
