The famous Swiss-Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava design the stunning pavilion at UAE Dubai Expo 2020. The architecture was inspired by the shape of falcon's wings, more specifically "by a falcon in flight" a bird with a grace and force that played a crucial part in the traditional culture of United Arab Emirates. Designed "as a symbol of the UAE's pioneering spirit", the pavilion stands in the Opportunity District, near the central Al Wasl Plaza. Every aspect of the pavilion is representative of the host country, from the building's architecture to the surrounding landscape that has thousands of variety of plants that are growing in the UAE lands.
Inside the pavilion at the centre stands a shaped sphere that guest an auditorium with double one way access with an amazing movable platform that is moving during the exhibition bringing the visitor from the basement level to the ground next to the exit. Within the rest of the pavilion the visitor will be immerse in a very elegant and minimalistic exhibition dedicated to the history and future of the country On the roof exactly in the center of the building is possible to admire the emblematic logo of expo 2020 transformed in a unique skylight that give an amazing natural light to the...
Read moreGiven the hype for the pavilion all over social media, I had high expectations. I wasn't truly disappointed but I expected more. If you manage to get inside the yard without waiting in queue will be great. Because inside the yard there is more waiting. The building itself is stunning from outside. It's also interesting to witness the opening of the "wings". There is also water canals resembling the falaj watering system. That's truly creative and modern way to present something traditional for UAE. The seating areas in the yard also show somehow the tradition. Once you're allowed to go inside the pavilion be prepared there's a bit more walking to reach the doors. After that you'll enter the hall with messages in the sand dunes. It looks nice and also represents the past and culture of UAE. Then you go to the hall to watch video. I liked the video but I understand for some people it may be a bit childish. After that you'll go to the last hall with some display boards (or whatever that's called) and it looks kinda bland. You get your stamp on the desk near the exit door of pavilion building and that's it. I feel they could have made something better for the last...
Read moreA host nation often puts the most effort into their pavilion, and the UAE not only has gone above and beyond with the venue, infrastructure, and EXPO as a whole BUT they've also got a shining pavilion to visit.
An intermingling of culture, innovation, motivation, and uniqueness the UAE pavilion is a stand-out amongst a majority of the pavilions nearby and at the whole EXPO.
Without revealing too much I do highly recommend viewing and taking your time appreciating the work that was put into this creation. The only critique I have was that when making the video in the theatre a hybrid between the creation and real footage of UAE would have made it stand out more.
The pavilions in the opportunity area are all about having screens to show you what you desire, that is the new way but UAE took it to another level with their display.
Phenomenal.
P.S. thank you for the fans to keep us cool in the shade of the lines, as this line does get pretty long but since so many people get moved in it shuffles along at a really good pace unlike some other...
