I feel I have to write a review due to the rude staff, lack of plant knowledge, and just a total disregard for customers waiting at the tills. This is for the Countesthorpe, Leicester centre. I have visited twice recently. First time with my partner, and we asked if they had a specific well-known plant. No one had any idea what it was !! We also had to queue for 15 minutes to pay for the items we did buy. Once at the till, we were served by a long-haired unkempt man who absolutely stank of alcohol. He ripped off a security tab from a box that took extra carborad with it that had the instructions on. How thick can you get !!
On the second visit, I had to bring back a faulty/damaged item. On entering the store, I asked an assistant if there was a 'special till' I had to go to. No, it was the answer, so i joined a queue with at least 12 people queuing to pay. Once it was my turn , I unfortunately got the same long-haired lout who told me to go to another till and so I had to wait again!! As for the cafe.....go elsewhere, Palmers Garden Centre in Leicester is far superior for its cafe and plant knowledge. This used to be an excellent garden centre before it was taken over...

Β Β Β Read moreI love a good garden centre cafe. They're normally such bubbly, relaxed, lovely places, full of middle-aged people enjoying a cake before buying another aspidistra. But not this one. This is the garden centre anti-cafe. The staff could not be slower - the queue for ordering food was more than twenty minutes despite staff standing about chatting. Then, they ran out of most vegetarian food options, including chips. But nobody had told the person taking the orders, so they happily took payment, which then needed refunding and re-ordering. It's a total mess. To add insult to injury, though this place is dog-friendly, my dogs were made to feel much less than welcome. A member of staff loudly and publicly berated me for feeding mine a sliced-up sausage roll. Staff were also too busy policing well-behaved dogs to...
