Came here on a quiet rainy Wednesday in search of a relaxing train ride. It's reasonably priced at £11 return for an adult, I didn't opt for the boat journey at Lakeside as I didn't have time, instead I popped into the pub at the hotel and went for a walk. There isn't an awful lot to do at Lakeside except the boat and aquarium and I couldn't seem to find any lakeside walks.

The tea room at Haverthwaite is cute - I felt like I was in Brief Encounter!

I do wish on quieter days there was a specific family carriage as there was lots of loud and screaming children scattered throughout the train, however I understand that this is a family attraction for all.

Overall, it's a nice little excursion out, it would be nice if buses were more frequent at the Lakeside end, just in case you miss...

Staying at a hotel local to the Windermere boat service we used it for trips to and from Bowness-on-Windermere and Ambleside. We bought a 24 hour ticket that enabled us to enjoy all the boat routes so we got to explore almost the whole lake. With commentary on the boats too we heard a lot about the history of buildings, industry and families that lived around the lake dating back to Victorian era. The boat had a licenced bar on board and toilets, also a variety a of drinks and snacks were also available. With a 3 hour round trip it is a must. Hop on and hop off at any stop with 24...

If the weather is bad, there is nowhere to find shelter or warmth. In normal times you could go to the bar by the hotel but they have only opened up the beer garden for the public and there’s very limited room. Likewise drinks and food are served on the pier but you cannot sit inside without buying hot food. Still as I say the boat itself was great and the staff...
