Came here on a quiet rainy Wednesday in search of a relaxing train ride. It's reasonably priced at £11 return for an adult, I didn't opt for the boat journey at Lakeside as I didn't have time, instead I popped into the pub at the hotel and went for a walk. There isn't an awful lot to do at Lakeside except the boat and aquarium and I couldn't seem to find any lakeside walks.
The tea room at Haverthwaite is cute - I felt like I was in Brief Encounter!

The downside is that there is literally nothing you can do at Lakeside except the aquarium. If the weather is bad, there is nowhere to find shelter or warmth. In normal times you could go to the bar by the hotel but they have only opened up the beer garden for the public and there’s very limited room. Likewise drinks and food are served on the pier but you cannot sit inside without buying hot food. Still as I say the boat itself was great and the staff...
