AVOID DAVID LLOYD â PROFIT OVER PEOPLE
Let me be crystal clear: This review is in no way, shape or form directed at the staff at David Lloyd Knowsley. The team at Knowsley have always been fantastic â professional, friendly, and supportive â and our issue is not with them. This is a criticism of David Lloyd as a corporate entity and the way it treats its members.
Weâve recently made the decision to cancel our family memberships and will not be returning â not until David Lloyd fundamentally changes its approach to customers.
Hereâs why:
RIGID & GREED-DRIVEN POLICIES
Want to pause your membership for just one month? Not allowed. The only option is a minimum two-month pause â whether that suits your situation or not. Itâs clearly a policy designed to benefit their bottom line, not their members.
Trying to cancel? Get ready for the extortionate three-month paid notice period. Yes, you have to pay for three more months just to leave â a completely outdated and customer-hostile policy.
ATROCIOUS COMMUNICATION
The membership teamâs communication is appalling. They:
Send mixed messages
Ignore or close chats when you ask for their complaints procedure
Promise things they donât deliver on
But if youâre looking to join, suddenly the response times are lightning-fast, and theyâre bending over backwards to help. Funny that.
This two-faced approach makes it abundantly clear: David Lloyd is only interested in you if youâre handing over money. Once youâre a paying member, they couldnât care less.
OUR FINAL VERDICT
Weâve had enough. Due to these greedy, customer-unfriendly practices, weâve decided to cancel all of our memberships with David Lloyd and will not return unless and until the company becomes more transparent, flexible, and customer-centric.
There are far better alternatives out there â gyms and clubs that respect their members, offer fair terms, and donât trap you with inflexible policies.
Avoid David Lloyd. Donât make the same...
Read moreI give 3* purely for the fact that it is a lovely clean gym! And Gavins battlebox classes are fantastic! And Dave front of house is always so nice and friendly! Unfortunately the following really lets the gym down.
However we joined this gym as a family of two adults and a child paying ÂŁ200 a month for the convenience to be able to go the gym as a family and my son to use the classes. Without any warning the age ranges for the children's classes changed meaning my son was not able to access the classes he liked and even the ones he is not keen on are only set to a time we are unable to use due to not being able to get there early enough from work! Despite the changes made rendering the gym useless to us we are unable to come out of our contracts! (Surly the service we signed up for is now longer valid we should be able to leave/freeze our membership until we are able to use) I have called several times to speak to somebody about this issue and have tried to speak to somebody once in the gym about this issue for the last month and nobody gets back to you! Some staff are very rude when you complain about the situation!
Our son is almost 6 and will be able to access the gym fully again and hopefully enjoy it again! But once our 12 months is up we most certainly will not be staying purely down to the poor customer service and the fact that the club do not listen to its members!! These changes have impacted so many families at the gym who like us are throwing money down the drain for a service that cannot be used!!
SORT IT OUT DL YOU WOULD BE NOWHERE WITHOUT...
Read moreI have been a member here for over 20 years and sadly I have to say that even after a recent refurbishment of the showers changing room and pool side areas the place is not what it used to be.
You will find it difficult to get onto equipment at peak times due to the behaviour of the local members who tend to sit and hog the equipment..
in addition the changing rooms are rarely cleaned on my last visit. I had to walk through a wall of absolutely stinking ammonia coming from the gentlemanâs toilets. This is on the exit from the Male changing rooms and not too far from the club room .
please donât visit this David lloyd establishment.
It is not typical of the brand and although significant money is being invested sadly there is a lack of attention to keeping the facilities clean and in good condition..
you canât blame the staff for all of these failings as they are wonderful friendly people who will do anything to help. It does just seem that there is a lack of support from the corporate brand and having sufficient and properly trained support staff such as cleaning and maintenance people.
Anyhow, if you are in the Liverpool area, I wouldnât visit this David lloyd you will be disappointed. Try and instead visit Speke near to Liverpool airport or if you are in a vehicle go across to Cheshire Oaks at Ellesmere Port. . Both these clubs offer the member a standard of service which they will be...
