An addition to the Coalville area that has been well thought of, unlike many worthless ideas turned into white elephants. Although I have high praise for the Snibson Colliery Park it could have been such much more of drawing in people to this area from afar, money and foresight a lacking commodity it could have been another Black Country Museum, possibly be a Beamish project and also the Blist Hill Telford Museum. These are moneys pinning projects that have drawn in money to their respective local areas. But let's not take away anything from Snibson! Its popularity is growing the locals living nearby are enjoying the play area as families. The cafe has a good ambience thanks to the friendly service of the staff good coffee and a selection of food that is fresh and has enough options. Next door is the remodelled Century Theatre more inviting than the old place but none the less has a variety of entertaining gigs. The Car Park is secure and easy to pay, unlike the other machines an app is required that it appears confuses many older folk, especially those who are not surfers of the net but have a phone for convenience. Perhaps our local council will have those in mind especially when just publishing their service online. Enough said of the less foresighted, visit Snibson Colliery Park and...
Read moreA perfect walk for the whole family. An adventure playground for the kids with a coffee shop beside the car park for convenience. There are various benched dotted around the park so you can sit with the kids and have a picnic. There's a green open space as well as some wooded areas so you can go for a leisurely walk or take the kids for a safe kick-about. There are multiple paths to choose from - from tracks for cyclists, some muddy off the "beaten track" paths for us dog walkers and some smoother paths if you've got mobility issues, in a wheelchair or have kids in a buggy. There's a picturesque "fishing lake" but is more a glorified large pond with ducks so great if you want to take the kids to feed them. The only downside now is that the tracks mean that there are more cyclists who don't actually always stick to the tracks. They've almost mown me and my pooch down multiple times so just be mindful of that! You can access it from various entry points but there's only...
Read moreWe loved our day trip to Snibston Colliery Park. The kids in our group (ages 2, 3, 5 and 6) all had a fantastic time. The playground had a good variety of equipment all in good order and the pump track was challenging, but perfect for my 6 year old on his bike as well as the younger kids on balance bikes and scooters. It was fun to look at the old mining equipment and there is a little information on boards to read. We didn't venture too far along the walks, but they were we'll signposted and we had a great picnic with a view over the surrounding area.
To our surprise the cafe was open (was bank Holiday Monday) which allowed us to not only use the toilets (which were clean and well maintained), but we also enjoyed a coffee and cake which was above average and fairly typical price for a coffee shop.
All I all a very enjoyable day and we definitely would return if up...
