ALDI — Local services in Nottingham

I'm sure that Aldi's reputation is well known already for their cheap food and other goodies. This store is one I've been going to for about three months. Overall the food is fresh and in plentiful supply. The range is far smaller than the big supermarkets but that's not a big deal.

Food prices have been exorbitantly high from the big supermarkets and forever increasing. Aldi have made this much less a problem with pricing of their goods, even with their attempts at familiar products on the shelves it's given the famous supermarket's quite a challenge and it's not going to work for them. at all if they're not prepared to change and reduce prices.

Most of the previous comments apply... except the usual out of stock - many shelf facings with nothing behind them - situations persist. One would have thought that extra stock would be bought in on food lines that repeatedly sell out hours before the store closes... but this expectation may be unrealisitic as when this was mentioned to a young 'confident' managerial type on the shop floor he responded by stating there were still many other products in the store that could be purchased adding he had just finished refilling facings in one of the aisles in question. Immediate inspection revealed this information incorrect. It begs the question - what is the long term future for Aldi when it's local management treats it's customers as if...

Go to Bulwell Aldi. The shelves here are empty and the whole shop is a mess on every week day and weekend we visit. My wife and myself were asked for ID when buying wine with our weekly shop with our daughter. We are both 27 and it's pretty clear to see that we are. We were asked whilst buying a weekly shop with our toddler!!!! It was extremely embarrassing to have to go back to my car to get my driving license. The attitude of the till operative was very cheeky and disrespectful. She made a scene in front of other shoppers to my absolute surprise and disgust. I'd also like to point out the the fruit and veg is often pretty manky with open packets dotted around the shop. Sort it out Aldi you're a reputable shop...
