Tuesday = Vegan Night

And what a night that is! My wife and I ordered a small selection of foods from the vegan menu to give it all a try (and make up to the £20.00 minimum order for delivery to NG8). I can honestly say it was worth every penny!

Within a few minutes of ordering I was called by Georgios to explain an error on the online ordering system which we expected anyway - the battered burgers comes on its own, though when ordering online there is a selection of salad options implying it is a complete burger.

The food arrived in good time and was very well packed in foil wraps to keep it warm - it felt like Christmas morning unwrapping everything. And here is what Georgios Claus delivered;

Chargrilled cheeseburger. As far as takeaway burgers go, this is the most authentic burger taste I've had since being vegan. There are some great ones out there, but this was just amazing - no beef here!

Battered burger. An interesting concept and surprisingly delicious! The batter is crispy, which might dissapoint those who like a soft batter, but this was just perfect for me.

Battered sausage. Exactly what you'd expect and very tasty!

Potato fritter. Crispy batter wrapped around a fluffy potato fritter. Can't go wrong!

Onion rings. I didn't try these myself, but they got my wife's approval...and that's difficult to get.

Large chips. Delicious. Packed in a cardboard box rather than polystyrene and paper, my only gripe here was that the grease made the box soggy. The chips were amazing however, proper chippy chips.

Plain salad. This went down really well with the lemon sauce option. This was a substitute which was kindly noted on the packaging.

Overall it was thoroughly enjoyable and I'd happily order again, especially with the pleasant customer service along the...

Have been ordering from here for years and never had a problem so thought when I'd call with my issue they'd listen and try to understand but nope! Ordered a chicken breast....instead I got half a deep fried chicken. I hate chicken on the bone or with skin on which is why I ordered a chicken breast. When I spoke the manager - his response was "well that's what we've been selling for years" - well I have never ordered this before. His response was "so you wanted a chicken fillet?" - no I wanted a chicken breast...like when you have a chicken breast from ANYWHERE I have EVER ordered chicken breast with a meal...it's come as the chicken breast meat ONLY! No bones....no skin....no wings....JUST the chicken breast - UNLESS it's stated chicken breast with skin on which I've seen once elsewhere and never ordered. And I'm pretty certain chicken fillets are smaller cut strips than chicken breast. I might bring a picky person in some people's eyes but I highly doubt I'm the first or only person that would expect what I did. And on top of it, the chips were so undercooked and soggy which my partner pointed out (I agreed but was worried I was just being negative when I thought it based off my annoyance over the chicken) and not to the usual standard. And after reading other reviews, I'm wondering if they were microwaved now. But my point being - when someone complains who has never done that before - listen and take on board what they are saying. Don't be condescending and ignorant to what I was saying. You've now lost any future custom from me due to how you handled it. But doesn't seem like the owner is bothered based off other...

Use to be the best chippy in town but the foods gone down hill. Cheap replacements for what use to be good quality food. The food is tasteless, and if you even think to enquire this, you'll get the good old, 'we've changed the ingredients' feedback when it's evident that they're now buying cheaper versions yet selling at the same price or more. The staff are all over the place, often getting orders wrong and most of the food is reheated, never fresh no matter what time of day you go here. Online orders take anything up to two hours to get to you, often because they either didn't acknowledge your order or just took their time. Customer service has gone downhill. Important to note that the halal food is no longer halal as the cook will place any vegetarian or halal food next to the pork sausages. Kinda defeats the whole purpose of using a separate fryer for special dietary requirements. Ordered a fish and chips, & fishcakes. The fish was undercooked, and the fishcakes were disgusting, burnt on the outside and undercooked on the inside, both smelled a strong fishy smell which indicates that the food isn't fresh. Random cooks who no longer care about the quality of food they're serving. Make a complaint and you get excuses with an attitude. Too many chiefs and no indians. Best avoided, and besides, I discovered the Oakdale Chippy on Oakdale road, literally only a 5 minute drive away. Gorgeous, piping hot food, freshly cooked to perfection, and great customer service.
