Sorry this is so long!! Hopefully it'd a useful review though.
Here is an honest review based on my experience. We went to scare kingdom this evening 30th October, so I would have expected that this would be one of the days to visit. I expected the biggest effort and the most actors.
Firstly would I go again or recommend it to friends... probably not.
The first 3 houses are very short and you are through each of them in 2-3 minutes max. Alot of time is spent queuing and not much time in the actual houses. In the first 3 houses the venue appeared to be under staffed as character interaction was minimal. In fact in house 3 there was not a single actor apart from the host at the start. I think this is a real shame as the theming of the sets are excellent and the attention to detail is next level.
houses 4 and 5 were great and what I had expected. Did they make it a worth while experience... in all honesty no.
Price - I think overall the venue is overpriced especially considering the psycomantium is extra (more on this to come) £28 plus an additional £6 for about 50mins plus a huge queue in my opinion is far too expensive.
The atmosphere - this is probably one of my biggest niggles..when you are in the main area there's no atmosphere. The music playing does not match the venue, Britney and Whitey hardly sell the scary vibe.
Food and drink - we didn't eat but everything looked and smelled great.
we got really tasty hot chocolates though. The staff in the cafe were probably the best we encountered.
The psycomantium - I wasn't sure what to expect but it definitely wasn't what I experienced. I thought it would be scary maybe a sensory experience but I was wrong. It's pretty much just a degrading sex dungeon.
Overall I think this place has some great potential but needs better organisation and more actors. a bit of a shame but I honestly don't think...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLong-time fan, but this year was a real letdown
Iāve been going to this event for years and have always looked forward to it, itās usually one of the highlights of spooky season. Unfortunately, this year felt completely different, and not in a good way.
So many things seem to have changed, and in my opinion, most of them for the worse. The atmosphere that used to feel immersive and alive now feels rushed and mechanical. The whole experience gave the impression that the organisers were more focused on pushing as many people through as quickly as possible, rather than creating genuine tension or fun. It felt less like an event and more like being herded through a queue.
The actors themselves were clearly doing their best, but they were too few and far between. In previous years, every corner had the potential to make you jump; this time, long stretches of the mazes went by without any real interaction. When the actors did appear, many were simply muttering or pacing rather than building suspense or going for scares.
Overall, it just felt like the event had lost its heart. The creativity, the pacing, the atmosphere, all the things that used to make it special, have been replaced by something that feels rushed, impersonal, and hollow. I truly hope the organisers take a step back next year and remember what made this attraction great in the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe were booked on the first slot (6.30 to 7) They opened up the mazes at 7pm. It is a continuous trail with a break in the middle. There are scare actors scattered around between mazes and usually one at the entrance to the mazes , regulating the flow. All actors gave it their all. Brilliant. The attention to detail in the mazes is exquisite. You can slow down a little in places to try and take it all in and look for "Easter Eggs" . We find different ones each time we go. There was a covered area half way through with food vans, a bar and toilets, also a stage with dancers when we arrived. There is also an extra extreme maze there called interrogation. You sign a waiver and descend through a trap door. You get wet, dirty and verbally abused. Not for the feint hearted. Still no sign of merch, I would deffo buy a t shirt and fridge magnets. We took 1.5 hours to go round. It's an hour from Stockport but is always...
