Mabel's Chippy — Local services in Rochdale

Just ordered from Mabel’s Chippy and oh my god how disgusting!! I ordered fried rice and curry sauce. Didn’t realise how wrong you can get such a simple dish. Firstly the sauce had already been put on the rice. I quickly realised this was because the rice had been well over cooked and was like mush. Even a baby would turn their nose up! So with curry sauce drowning the already mushy rice, you can imagine the brown puddle I was met with when I opened the tray. Manged two fork fulls before it went straight in the bin! My partner ordered cheesy chips and gravy and again they looked vile! It wasn’t proper cheese more of a white cheese sauce that you’d see on a lasagne which was not pleasant to look at! The chips couldn’t be called “chippy chips” more like fries. They were cold, undercooked, soggy fries. Both meals went straight in the bin. What a waste of money!! I’m so upset that I have to leave this review as I was so excited to come as they have a specific gluten free menu, also the guy was really nice and customer service was great but the food.. the food was awful, the chicken wings had no flavour and the batter was really really sandy, the salt and pepper chips (my personal favourite) had no salt and pepper flavour and the chips where half cooked, I don’t know if this is because we placed order as they opened and they may have rushed it or not been fully prepared but the only thing that remotely tasted okay was the salt and pepper chicken balls but they was average at best. My partner is celiac, he has been craving and missing Chinese food. We were yet to find a decent one which actually had flavour and then we came across Mabel’s and all I can say is… just wow. We are obsessed it’s absolutely beautiful and it’s probably the best Chinese food I’ve had in a long time and I’m not even gluten free and I eat the gluten free stuff with him. we know it’s a safe place for him now as he hasn’t been poorly or anything from it.
