We've all been at a loss for what to do this past year as we try to find new things to try and new places to walk. One member of the community has decided to combine these staples of lockdown life. We now have The Great Defecation Bench of Hertfordshire stationed in The Wick. As you can see by the sign; this only happens sometimes and it is not guaranteed, but possible. On sunny days you can see families in a scene reminiscent of Easter Egg hunts that we saw in pre covid times. Perhaps you would like to get a selfie with the sign to show your friends and family or perhaps you want to try and snap a photograph of this elusive event in action, as so far the only snaps taken have been comparable to those of Big Foot and UFOs. As vandalism is a rising problem in recent years please note that CCTV has been placed to dissuade vandals from making The Bench a target in their anti-social behaviour. If you are walking in the area then your list of excuses not to see this local oddity really is pretty short. The Wick is a clean and friendly environment so we would appreciate if you would be mindful to throw away any dog muck and litter. Thank you, enjoy The Wick and watch where you sit!

Beautiful wild and quiet lovely to walk round the wood with its pond or the field both 10 to 15 minutes to cover simple but good children's play area also No childrens football played on field anymore due to neighbouring properties objecting to noise in the past shame as it would add character back to the wick, footpath in woods is natural so can get muddy, although same neighbouring buzz kills want a paved path. Enjoy while you still call this beautiful space

A beautiful and quiet place, you can take a walk, relax on a bench, or play with your dog. There's also a small playground for children. A century-old park with marked paths is home to curious robins and magpies. The park is small but worth to visit.

Used to play here, make camps, cycle the hidden tracks, wrestle on the logs over the ditches, catch newts from the pond, from the age of 4 to my late teens.local meeting point for all the local kids, who remembers the old shelter by the play park area.old wickstead round about where we used to play sticky as we got the roundabout to spin as fast as we could.lots of happy memories.in recent years so called do gooders have sanitised the park and followed an agenda of taking it back to nature, thus robbing us of accessibility to areas and doing what kids want to do explore.why do the minority always impose on...

A wooded area with a small field to one side. Nestled between huge houses this park is very good for dog walking. Has a pond that is fenced off. There are ditches which after heavy rain can fill with water. Small play area for young kids. Fully enclosed except for one exit on south side near play park. Paths Can be musty after rain. If your going to drive the head to Marshal’s Drive, normally easy to park near the entrance, which has a wonky and quite heavy metal gate that...
