Laurel Garden Chinese Takeaway — Local services in Stoke-on-Trent

We had a delivery tonight costing £45. It said 35 mins delivery, it took over 60 to be delivered. The food was not what the reviews said. The chips were soggy, like microwaved chips and it is the only place I've ever gone where the sauce was slopped all over the chicken balls and chips. Any where else the sauce is in a separate container. My son could not eat any of it as he doesn't like the sauce, but you can't order a meal without it!! The chips were so soggy they made a paste over everything else. But the worst for me was the taste of garlic. Not like it was cooked with garlic but STORED with garlic. The prawn toast stank of garlic, so did all the rice, prawn crackers. Really smelled and tasted awful. I'm a massive foodie, i love a chinese, but this made me heave. £45 in the bin. I've learned a lesson, stick with our usual place. It's more expensive, but you get what you pay for. Sorry to those that work there, don't mean to be personal but I'm feeling a little hangry now. The delivery from here takes absolutely forever. We waited an hour and 40 minutes for delivery when we made sure to order soon as they opened. We even had to call and ask about the food to which they just say "yeah yeah it's on its way", which is code for 'we haven't even started it but we will rush it now'. I called back 25 minutes later to be told that the driver was JUST leaving the restaurant, even though 25 minutes before I was told the food was on the way. Then she "called the driver" and said the driver was 5 minutes away. The driver turned up not 5 minutes later but 15 minutes later. Poor delivery guy showed up and was stressed out by the restaurant too (it wasn't his fault). The delivery took so long that I'd rather just order from the other places that are just as good and have 5x faster delivery, waiting nearly 2 hours for Chinese food just kind of ruined the meal. Our normal Chinese was closed so thought we’d try the new kids on the block…. Local to us so thought delivery would be quick… when I phoned the lady told me 40 mins…. I ordered at 6:50pm and the food arrived @ 8.30pm…. I wouldn’t have minded the wait if the food was nice but the curry sauce was watery and the sweet & sour sauce was plain & watery the meat had no real flavour either…also we received a very small portion of prawn crackers… i gave it 2 stars because the food was hot when it arrived… it’s a real shame the food quality is below average I would have used this place more often… just hope my normal Chinese...
