So I'm not laying the initial blame totally on Alaska Mini Storage, but most of it is on them. We moved several months ago and never updated our address with them. Apparently they decided to update their billing system a few months ago, which also wiped out autopay card on file with them. Here's where it gets better. Supposedly they sent letters stating the past due amount. Not disputing they may have done that, but as we had moved, we never got them. One would think if someone owes you money, you would make more than a basic attempt to collect said money. They have my email address and also my phone number, as well as my wife's on hand. Never once did we receive contact at any of the 3, before Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, when my wife was called and rudely told we owed 3 months of payments and that we were no longer welcome to use the storage facility. We were given a timeframe of 2 days to move our stuff out. I was able to log in and pay the past due that day, and proceeded to collect our stuff from the unit before the end of the 2 day timeframe given. On the last day, I made sure the unit was cleaned, removed our lock and moved on our lives.
Fast forward to today, same person, calls my wife (not the primary on the account), and proceeds to tell her how he "Found our unit unlocked and empty." Even has the gall to ask for another payment. My wife informed him bas he had told us we were no longer welcome at the facility, we had removed our stuff and he would not be getting any further payments from us.
Staff that contacted my wife were rude and unprofessional. I myself, the primary on the account was never once contacted by phone or email until 90 days after we were past due. Had I known autopay was removed, I would have reinstated it. Now, the storage facility has lost a customer, and I will let anyone I know looking for storage to not use any of their 3 facilities located here in town.
Update
It is now almost 2 months AFTER this incident, and somehow Alaska Mini Storage has felt the need to send me a Final Warning and notice of lien on a nonexistent storage unit that has not been used since I moved out stuff out. I called and left a voicemail, but it's been at least 2-3 days and ironically, they don't seem to be...
Read moreI've been renting here for nearly 2 years at about $180 a month. They recently changed billing software, removing everyone's billing information, and locking people out of their storage units for non-payment.
I've payed them roughly $4k for the priveledge of storing my stuff in their facility and in exchange, they locked me out and charged me a late fee because they deleted my billing information. 10/10.
The ginger guy that works/lives at the peger location is a jerk, and the owners are just as bad.
After being given an ultimatum between removing my critical review and being evicted, I am being evicted. Top quality establishment here, I wonder how many other honest reviews have been silenced by these...
Read moreIf you get a unit in A, there is so much water it's very difficult to access unit. Water accumulates directly in front of unit doors, springtime was impossible. Gates close at 10, so if you work, access hours are minimal. Late fees are very high and are automatic. You can't pay on account until it's due, and then late fee is added immediately. I was paying nearly triple the amount of what a unit should cost. A lot of...
