I'd sad to write this review as for the most part, I've had positive experiences in the past at Betty's Bath & Day Spa. My very disappointing experience was last night when I got a 75-minute massage. Within the 1st 5 minutes of the massage, I heard this sound come on, and then felt cold air blowing on me. When I asked if a fan was on, the massage therapist told me it was the A/C vent in the ceiling directly over the massage table. I told her I get cold really easily and asked if a table warmer was available. She said yes and asked if I wanted it turned on (normally, this is something I'm asked at the start of the massage regarding preferences). I told her yes. My back at this point was spasming from the cold. I told her this. So without saying anything, like I'm so sorry about that, she covered my back and started working on my legs. She never returned to my back sadly and that is where I needed it the most!
I noticed the pressure she applied on my legs was on the lighter side so I said, "I'm fine with more pressure if you are". Again, this is something I'm used to massage therapists doing during a massage, like asking me how it feels, if the pressure is good, etc. Instead, my massage therapist sighed loudly in response to my comment which I interpreted as annoyance. I kept my mouth shut after that. She started applying really deep pressure, which was a bit too much, but I was afraid of annoying her further. After my legs, she went back to applying light pressure again for the rest of the massage. When I turned face up, I thought, well at least she'll work on my neck and shoulders. Nope. She just used her fists to rub my scalp, did not touch my face at all, then finished with a brief massage of my feet. She was aware of my problem areas (jaw, neck, shoulders, back, especially on the right side) because I communicated this to her at the beginning. To top it all off, she asked me if I wanted lemon water or hot tea at the end. I said, hot tea, please. She returned with a water. It was almost comical.
I kept thinking, I waited so long to get a massage especially since the prices have gone up so much, so I've had to limit how often I treat myself to massages. I also was thinking, I can't believe I'm paying this much money and I'm not even enjoying it due to the cold air blowing on me and the attitude given by my massage therapist. I'm not naming the massage therapist because maybe she was having a bad day.
Needless to say when I checked out, the receptionist asked how the massage was. I told her, unfortunately, not good because of the cold air (I omitted giving feedback about the massage therapist because I didn't know if she'd be within earshot). Anyway, the receptionist then said, sorry to hear, how about a 10% discount. While I appreciated this, it did not feel like it made up for my horrible experience. I guess I will be looking for more affordable massage places moving forward because I can't afford to have another experience like this for the amount they charge here.
Update- I am changing my rating from one star to three stars because Betty's did follow through and credited me the full amount that I paid for the massage but I'm keeping it at three stars only just because of the experience I had getting the massage. I do appreciate though Betty's keeping their word about crediting me back the...
Read moreI have loved all of my services here since 2022 and the facility is beautiful.
However, this new system to schedule appointments is awful. I encountered it for the first time today. I’m unable to reach the front desk or leave a voicemail or schedule using the stupid Mayra feature, and online shows no appointments through December 10th, which is as far as it allows me to schedule. I tried different treatments of all kinds and no luck. The online assistant cannot answer questions and it takes 4 or more times of asking to speak with the front desk for it to start, but then sometimes resets and assumes you are no longer there. I have called seven separate times today. I finally reached the front desk and unfortunately there was an error with the scheduling and I tried to call back to correct it but fell into the same issue with not being able to speak to someone, leave a voicemail, or change the appointment :( the Mayra assistant has my account confused with someone named Martha. The appointments are also cancelled if you do not complete the paperwork within an hour of your call, which I do not believe was the case beforehand. There are no confirmation texts or emails.
I’m so sad because I’ve loved Betty’s but this has been an awful experience trying to get scheduled.
09/20/25: I received a reply from the owner to my review. The ability to resend the paperwork is not helpful when it is extremely difficult to reach the front desk, and when I do not receive voicemail calls back days after I have attempted to reach out. I cancelled my appointments today (3 weeks before they were scheduled to occur) and I received a text that unconfirmed appointments will be cancelled, but I never received a confirmation text, email, or call for my services when I scheduled. When I called to cancel and share my concerns about the system, I was able to get connected after 3-4 attempts, then I was told it will not change due to the use of online scheduling. However, again, the system shows no availability for any services when I try online. I’m really sad that the new owners are making changes to the products used during treatments and that it is so so difficult to schedule or get ahold of staff or to schedule...
Read moreAh, Betty’s. Used to be my favorite. I actually used to come here for shaving cream fights on the last day of school when it was Godfather’s, so I always had a soft spot for it. That changed today. I am immunosuppressed and have neurocognitive long Covid after having contracted Covid three times in one year despite vaccination and consistent masking and precautions in 2022. Covid has never been over for me, and I continue these precautions: I cannot get Covid again. Period.
I am getting married next month, and I wanted to get a Rejuvenation treatment. I have two gift certificates that I haven’t used because I don’t want to get sick. After much consideration, I decided to do something special for myself, and I called to schedule. I obv plan on wearing a mask, and I requested that my therapist wear a mask. I was told that because the therapists are independent contractors, that they cannot ask them to mask. I ultimately spoke with the manager, who said she would talk to the owner about it. Today I got a call from the manager and said that I AM NOT EVEN ALLOWED TO REQUEST that my therapist wear a mask because there’s no health ordinance. I can’t even ask!
So, any immune compromised clients- people who are elderly or have cancer, autoimmune, multiple commodities-DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU WANT TO KEEP YOURSELF HEALTHY. As a healthcare provider in the Community and as someone who was born and bred in the North Valley, I can’t be more disappointed. We are currently one of four states with the highest covid rates in the country. The new variant is more contagious than the previous. BOO BETTY’s for not caring about the health of your clients and taking into consideration their NEED TO KEEP HEALTHY AND SAFE....
