I'm not even sure where to start but felt compelled to write a review based on my experience. I'm sure as most, I had no formal "jeweler" that I felt I could go to and feel comfortable. The one I used to use retired many years ago and since both mine and my wife's wedding rings weren't falling apart, no need to do anything. Well, both mine and my wife's rings happened to break. Mine about 3 years ago and my wife's about a year ago. With enough complaining from my wife about finding someone to get them fixed, I decided that for our anniversary I would get both fixed. I did some research and completely based on the reviews I saw on-line and that this was a local business for me, I felt that this would be the place to go. I went in on a Saturday and explained what I needed done to both rings and, more importantly that my anniversary was that following Tuesday! I honestly didn't give them enough time to do what needed to be done to the rings but after some calls to get updates and what needed to be repaired (which mind you were complete overhauls to both rings) they came through! Tuesday came and unfortunately they weren't able to get it done before they closed at 6 pm. They called me about 6:30 (while we were on our way to dinner for our anniversary) and they said that they'd wait for us to get done because they really wanted my wife to have her ring on her anniversary! Who does that today? Honestly? That was the best answer I could've heard considering I thought the day was lost. We showed up around 8:30 PM and the work that was done blew us away. They waited for us and went through what they did and we could't have been happier. As a business owner myself, service like this as well as the work that was done just isn't as prevalent anymore. Keehn's is a place that you'll want to go for all your...
Read moreKeehn's has done work on my ring multiple times over the past few years. And before this last time, I would not have hesitated to bring it there for work. I brought my ring in for work at the end of June and was told 2 weeks and that I'd hear from them when it was ready. Two weeks later and nothing. Week 3, I asked my husband to follow up about the ring. He spoke with the owner on a Tuesday and he told him that there were some issues (though there was NEVER any communication about that or the delay) and that it would be done by Friday and he would call him. He also told my husband at that time that the cost would be $200 for the repair. Friday came and went, no phone call. Saturday came and went, no call. As they are closed on Sunday & Monday, we called again on Tuesday mid-morning after still hearing nothing. This time we got the wife and she immediately told my husband that she needed to look into it and would call him back. 4 hours later...no phone call back. He called back again only to be told by the wife that it was just being finished up and should be ready by the end of the day (Tuesday). About 45 minutes before closing, she called back to tell me the ring was still in the cleaner, but finished and I could pick it up. We showed up on Wednesday to pick it up. Not only did they have my ring for a month, over 2 weeks longer than they told me, but they also charged me $25 more then what he told my husband the week before. No apology, only excuses! And, zero communication other than us calling to check in on it! Perhaps the owner should focus on getting the work he does have finished instead of chatting and visiting his friends in the back room that are clearly distracting him from his business. Disappointing to say the least...he used to do top-notch business and customer service, but they've lost...
Read moreI met Ken in 1994--he had my business for more than 20 years while I lived in Barrington-he has made custom rings for my wife and 3 girls -as well he cares for my fathers Rolex -saving me so much money I ended up buying my wife another ring with what he saved me in 2005 (my wife calls it the Carmella Soprano ring) Can't tell you how many repairs-of course his stuff doesn't break--but with three girls the gift trinkets from communions, graduations and birthdays from relatives all the other stuff does! Even my mother and father's estate jewelry and coins- he could have paid pennies on the dollar-instead he told me to save as the time for sliver and gold was on the rise--imagine that!
He is so talented and considerate, I still send him my business from Florida where I live now. Their isn't enough cloud space to show all the pictures-looking at all the other reviews and pictures why, looks like I am not alone in how I feel about this craftsman! My biggest regret is not getting to know his new Puppy and having a cup of coffee while he fixes things right...
