Many of the teachers and classes were excellent, but it was all overshadowed by the lack of consistency in treatment towards and care of students. The administration is absolutely abysmal, with the president of the college only showing if he absolutely has to and many of the deans being unresponsive to student needs. Financial aid here is in shambles, being made available only after the third Tuesday of each term due to their low graduation and student loan repayment rates - something which is directly effected by the way the students are interacted with by the staff and administration before they graduate. The school itself is literally almost being denied student loan opportunities by FAFSA due to those same low rates. Book funds for our veteran students have been arriving consistently late as well, with no end in sight. Some staff has been lewd, and/or favorable, of the opposite sex, and some staff has been absolutely petty in their dealings (IE: failing by fractions of a percent, not accepting work for marginal mistakes, and many similar situations). Attempts to discuss this with the staff will leave you spinning your wheels - attempts to take it farther will get you scolded by the administration and cast a (metaphorical, yet still all too real) black cloud over the rest of your academic career. The situation is so bad, that two kids have threatened to shoot up the school in the last year alone due to sheer frustration with upper and lower level staff, and the school has both refused and failed to find any wrongdoings on their own part. Don't listen to the local guides on here trying to drum up business for the local area - go to RCC in Medford and save yourself the time, money, and hassle. They've been helping students from the basin area since before KCC was even a forethought. This school needs either a complete overhaul of the upper level administration, or it needs to die and stop impeding the success of students. Hopefully more students or former students will add their voices to this review sheet, so fewer future students will get sucked into...
Read moreThe office is bad, but slowly improving. As well as their academic hold and academic probation status they put you through. Students who really want to complete their degree or complete their education goals to transfer have a hard time getting their appeal lifted. I feel all students are prejudged to a "failing like" attitude and are unfairly not allowed back. As for the math department, the math instructors simply do not have enough time in 45 mins. to go over everything they should, given that amount of time. It should be a 4 credit class, it will always help to have quality ad-juncts brought in that can explain the material, for everyone to understand. As for the writing department, what my daughter found was in writing 95, the instructors are playing catch up to what they fail to teach in high school, quality writing instructors are lost because of the amount of students that leave the class. Which is too bad, it's not the writing instructor's fault. Losing Dr. Meinse is a huge loss for this school , he had it together. KCC leaves a lot of room for improvement, yet what positive change could be done, is fallen on deft ears by instructors who really do know what they are talking about. Maybe it's not so much the administration's fault etc.. it's the board of directors that should be sitting in on the classes with the students, to see what...
Read moreI would give a higher star rating because of the professors and classes BUT the office staff makes anything outside of going to class almost impossible. This is just one experience. We moved and my husband needed an official transcript for his new school. The new school would accept one electronically sent to them by KCC. KCC doesn't do that. They send by Fax (who does that still?), mail or in person. We inquired about my mother, who still lives in Klamath Falls, picking up the transcript so she could 2 day mail it to us. They said we could authorize her to do that. We went to the website to order the transcript. We did as they said to authorize her. She went to pick it up and they told her only my husband could pick it up. We ended up having to pay for another transcript order. We still haven't gotten the transcript. When we log in to check on the transcript, the website continually says the request was received. Then when we call, we always get voicemail and never get a call back. If this messes up my husband finishing school, I am going to talk to an attorney and whoever else I need to. We are not the only people we have heard of them doing this to. Professors and classes GREAT. Office...
