Dollar General — Local services in Alto

This store is in Lula, Ga. It is a great one-stop for every basic need. The store does not offer fresh produce; but it offers a variety of cold items that include deli items, meat, ice cream, milk, tropicana orange & watermelon juices, ... and ice cream! The prices of toilet paper, paper towel, school & party supplies are better than Wal-mart. The promotion on cereals and soft drinks also surpass the Cornelia or the Oakwood Wal-mart stores. It is conveniently located by Hwy 365 (continuance of I-985). It is also open late! The store closes at 11pm daily! Very helpful for last minute needs! Although they only have 2 registers, most of the times, you can checkout much faster here (Even with a full cart!) than you probably would at any Wal-mart. This store is usually well-stocked and serves well its purpose! If you live around Hwy 52 or 365, Lula, Harbersham or if you are visiting Helen, keep it in mind in case you need a quick stop or a late stop. PS: The only reason that I had to adjust it to 4, instead of 5 stars, is because lately it seems to be a little disorganized. The staff was not knowledgeable at doing their job. Not only were they not able to take either of my cards, but after waiting over 15 minutes for them both try to get my cards to work the older lady choose this time to go to the restroom, with about 5 customers in line. Neither employ could check my order out using my cards so I went out to my car and got cash. I went back into the store where I had to then wait for the 5 people to check out, when I got to the register to pay cash the guy told me the other lady had voided out my order and she would have to be the one to help me, I found the older lady outside standing by my car talking to my husband smoking a cigarette. She said she was smoking her cigarette. My husband had already taken our things to the car so we ended up just taking the items back into the store and leaving. We spent about 50 minutes at this store and did not even get to purchase anything, when it should have only took us about 15...

It was excellent. Staff was very friendly and really willing to help. Especially Amanda, she went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure you found everything you were wanting and that you were totally pleased. She would make a great manager for Dollar General somewhere. She repersentives your company very well. You need a lot more people like her in all your stores. It was a pleasure doing business at your store on Saturday night and it being busy. However you did not lack the service you deserved.
