Haven House Thrift Store — Local services in Alys Beach

I would have given a 5-star rating except for the interaction that I had with the man running the cash register yesterday (29 MAR 2025) morning between 0915-1000. I found a small, framed print with no official Haven House price sticker, but there was one on it obviously from a yard sale that said $4. So, the cashier asked me how much I though it cost, so I said $4 and he said, no, $5...which, I am not going to split hairs over. It's only a dollar. So, as he is ringing the framed print up, he tries persuading me to buy a candle, but I kindly declined. He persisted again, and I told him that I do not use candles as I am sensitive to smells. With that, he urged that I could buy as a gift. I kindly declined again. Again, he said, I could save a life...again, I said no. He finally takes my debit card to pay and when he gets ready to hand my debit card back to me, he yanks it back, then acts like he is going to hand it to me and yanks it back again...he does this another 2-3 times before FINALLY giving me my card. After this I participate in sell of the merchandise going on outside and have to return back inside to pay for those items. And the candle persuading starts all over again along with the yanking of my debit card back and forth out of my hand AGAIN which at that point I was totally frustrated and told him that he needed to stop. Which at that point he just laughed. I am sorry, but that is completely UNPROFESSIONAL. I understand trying to sell additional items such as the candles as I have worked in retail before BUT yanking someone's bank debit card in and out of their hand is unacceptable. After visiting the store today a nice young man helped me I made a deal with and for it to be sent two blocks to my house , great ! After finding out my neighbor was willing to help me I returned to the store and told the young man , he was fine but a lady working was very upset she said SHE lost 50$?

Now the day prior I looked at ouch it was 68$ he said , today it was 50$ he would deliver on the 26th.once I came back this lady claimed she would be in Trouble and that I owed her 50$ now what ever since that makes I did not ask for a refund nor did I indicate I wanted it back I too love to help these groups of young Christian men and women But this lady needs to read the Bible again Telling g me I burnt her and I owe her 50$ Was she keeping it herself or was the mission getting it Either was someone needs to...

This is one of my favorite thrift stores to go in pcb. They always have some really good stuff to buy even some brand new things. Reading the reviews on google about this shop shocked me. Most of the men that work here are recovering individuals and do this by the grace of god. I have never met an individual at this shop that was rude or mean. They are always helpful and seem so welcoming when I come in the door. They reflect the same great love and nature that the santa rosa beach location holds so dear. I just want to take this time to thank them for helping me day in and day out as I come into the store. I want to thank them for all the hard work they do and I will be praying for them.
