Robin's Egg — Local services in Amherst

I shopped at this store on September 6th. It was not my first time spending money there. While standing in line, the customer in front of me complimented the cashier on her blue eyes. The two cashiers then carried on talking about blue eyes in their family. The cashier said everyone in her family had blue eyes for generations, but later other people “messed up the gene pool”. The other one, noticing I was there, then said, “It’s a crapshoot!” which implies that blue eyes is the prize, and other eye colors are less desirable. As a non-white, brown-eyed woman, I was extremely uncomfortable. I wanted to walk out and leave, but I stayed and bought what I had carefully selected. No clarification was offered to me at the register.

I have recounted this story to friends and colleagues, who were appalled. I will not be going back to this shop again. Unless you are white with blue eyes, you are ruining the gene pool, according to people who work at...

I'm downgrading my previous review of 4 stars, mainly because I find the new space to be a bit of a disappointment. The new space is smaller and each space/vendor has a lot of the same or similar items. There is also a big uptick in mass-produced and Made in China items and things you can buy at Tkmaxx for half the price. I saw a few nice furniture items but the price tags on them were department store-level, which is ridiculous. When I was there I overheard that faux cotton branch was $10. I'm sad to see that Robin's egg has turned into a lame duck in over-priced sheep's clothing. I hope they'll start to add back in some variety and authenticity to their new space and soon because at this point it's not worth the additional 10 minute drive...

Love, love love and more love! I have been following Robin's Egg on FB but have not ventured into until recently and I am so happy I did. The displays are gorgeous, the layout of the store is inviting and there is something different around every corner. This store has something for everyone!
