Do NOT take your watch there to change a battery. A few years ago, when the store was Firefall Jewelers (same family), I took a watch in to have the battery changed. They put in the wrong battery. Realizing mistakes happen I took two watches in to Paul James to have the batteries replaced. They were dropped off and I advised the clerk I would return in 2-3 hours to pick them up. When I returned the young clerk advised me one watch was ready but the second watch was not, she wanted to have a more experienced employee change the battery. When I returned home with the completed watch I noticed it was not running and there was what appeared to be a good-sized scratch, as if the black PVD was scratched off. I returned to the store to complain. First, the battery issue. They could not explain why the watch was not working. Bad battery? The watch was broken? It was running fine before the battery died. I sent the watch to a watch repair shop in Encino. The repair shop has impeccable reviews on Yelp and on both BBB and Trust Pilot. The coil and contact in the watch were both damaged. Per the repair shop "The coil and contact are very sensitive and are part of the mechanism and almost always they are damaged by incorrect battery replacement." Repair cost $150. I send a request for reimbursement to Paul James for this amount and $20 for cost of mailing the watch to the repair shop. Have never heard back. Second, the scratch turned out to be a pasty substance stuck to the watch. I asked the owner why the watch wasn't cleaned after the battery was changed. He replied "we don't clean watches." I guess he didn't realize he just cleaned the watch on his shirt. (takes about 5 seconds to clean it with a microfiber cloth). All he could say in his defense was "we wave at people at the grocery store." The inexperienced clerk damaged my watch and they refuse to...
Read moreWe just picked up the customer wedding ring I had made for my bride. As you would expect this was an extremely important project for us. Paul met with us three Separate times during the concept and design phase. He listened to our story and the story behind the heirloom gems and metal that would become the ring. He took the time to get to know my bride and her style. Paul was understanding and patient as we critiqued and modified his concept drawings. I was the most impressed when he sent the first casting back for modifications and recasting before we even saw it. When I expressed my concern that the second casting was late in being returned the staff at Paul James Jeweler’s kept me informed and called me when it was received. The end product exceeded all our expectations. It is truly a custom piece of art that fits my bride to the tiniest detail. It will will fulfill its secondary purpose as multi-generational heirloom piece with a...
Read moreI love the Cocas, I have known them for many years now. Over the course of time they have made me two, one of a kind custom pendants, that are very high quality! The MGC pendant is over 10 years old, and still looks great; I purchased the Lyfe N Cali pendant last year, and I am sure that it will also last for many years to come. If you can imagine it, they can make it for you. The Coca family is very professional and loving. They will make sure that you and your jewelry will be taken care of for years to come. I highly recommend going to them for all of your jewelry needs, and I am looking forward to purchasing more Paul James Jewelry...
