If you like to make things, or spend a lot of time fixing/maintaining things, this place is a gold mine. Every time I go in here I find merchandise that gives me inspiration for projects.
If you know that you only need to replace a broken bolt, weld in a rusted out metal panel, or fix a stretched out gate spring, Surplus City provides all of the low level parts and materials needed to economically make those types of repairs.
Tools are typically generic, and often not name brand. While I was initially skeptical of the quality, I haven't had any negative surprises yet. They also offer a wide variety of items to fix parts that eventually break or wear down on tools, such as shovel handles.

You can spend hours perusing their extensive collection of everything from a 1 5/8" fine thread thumb screw (which is available in every kind of finish ever made) all the way to every color of spray paint under the sun to a diverse selection of cheap hand tools, and everything in between. Read moreLove this place....it has changed since I started going there 20yrs ago but for the better..... they have the usual hardware selection but many times it is cheaper than the other hardware stores.....my favorite thing is the oddball parts that no body stocks.... you need a black iron tee 1/2"x1/2"x3/4"? They do. Bolts by the pound? Aluminum diamond plate already cut into pieces? Fun to walk around and see what you didn't know you needed.....but I miss their barrel of mistake monogrammed...
