Course in good shape for not being a course that truly overseeds in the winter time. Greens and shoulders overseeded and real good shape. The price point very good, seeing how a lot of courses are still over 100+ dollars to play.
Had a 6:15am tee time, start was a little behind, and sent us off at 6:22am. I remember this because starter wrote on golf cart in sharpie on the advertisement board above on the cart the start time. Apparently, that is how this course maintains pace of play for the ranger on course to know where each group is at. We were approached by the ranger on hole 4 saying we were behind by 14 minutes off of pace. Unfortunately we had nowhere to go as we were pressing the group in front of us, and we mentioned that to him. He was not in a good mood, and preceeding on to figure out what group was holding everyone up.
The worst part was we never saw a ranger on the back, never saw a beverage cart until the end of our round. Pace slowed down incredibly on the back. With there not being housing around and it being a traditional style course with back-to-back holes, there were several cross fairway arrant shots going everywhere. Pretty dangerous, not to say that my ball was picked up on two holes on the back. I was in play on the fairways for the holes I was playing, so there shouldn't of been any reason why a ball was swiped. I believe when you stack to many groups to close to each other to get max play each day this scenario is always going to happen.
All said, I will not be returning to play at Apache Creek Golf Club for a while, as these elements resulted in a poor experience. I used to play this course every week in a group last year and never experienced anything like this before. Not any result of how I played either, because I played well, just wish those elements had not occurred, would have been...
Read moreI know this is an PGA facility, but the one thing this course is not is professional. There staff is rude and very short with the customer. I played the course on Friday and we were followed and talked to sternly by the course ranger. We had no one waiting behind us and the group in front of us was only a half hole ahead. I asked why we were getting timed when no one was waiting, and it was explained that we need to be done in four hours and fifteen minutes even though no one was waiting behind us. Next, I went to practice at this facility and was told I couldn't use range balls on there chipping green. I asked why and it was explained to me that people leave the balls on the green. I said I would pick them up and was told by the professional at the desk that it was the owners policy and I couldn't use them on the chipping green. When you pay $8 for a large bucket, you should be able to use them anywhere on the practice facility as long as your not ruining the turf or endangering other guest. I don't understand why a ranger or cart person can grab a shag bag and hand pick the chipping green in 5-10 minutes and let the customer use what they paid for. I know the ranger has the time because he was chit chatting with the pro in the golf shop. This course has no customer service and I wouldn't spend any of your hard earned money at this unprofessional facility. I wouldn't recommend this course to anyone. There are many choices in the valley, do yourself a favor and chose another...
Read moreI, along with several of my fellow travellers have been members at Apache Creek for several years and have become concerned by the devolving conditions at that club, despite the rising prices. Currently, they've adopted a policy that snubs snow bird memberships in the hope of attracting unsuspecting tourists who'll pay their ridiculous green fees, in light of the deplorable course and clubhouse conditions. For the past two years, they've forgone the expense of over seeding their fairways, but have splurged on an abundance of green paint which gives the illusion of grass while passing by on the hyway. That being said, I Will admit that the greens are acceptable and the club does offer bottled water at the first tee. Also, Gary in the pro shop should be considered their most valuable asset and whatever he's being paid, he deserves an increase in salary. If you're a golfer, do yourself a huge favor and look for a golf course that offers some value for your money. However, if u just wanna hack a ball around and don't mind hitting off of dormant grass and dirt, or paying a premium to do so, then the Apache Creek golf...
