Sunsplash who?! 🤷🏾♀️
My kids and I had an amazing time here! I feel like it’s tucked away like a hidden gem 💎 I paid $2 for them to get in and $3 for myself. We got there a little after 12 and was able to snag a picnic table. The water was clean, cold and felt really refreshing. The whole set up is cute and entertaining. The lifeguards were ON POINT & very attentive, you can tell that they are definitely being trained by the right people and take their job (or volunteer time) seriously.
Another thing I liked was seeing a community of people just having fun, there was no tension or bad vibes. Lots of laughter and splashing. I think that’s REALLY important post pandemic. We felt safe a family of black folks 🥰 Everyone talked and played with each other.
Some things I didn’t like but am perfectly okay with was there wasn’t a snack bar, call me old school but that is what really makes the pool POP lol on the flip side you can bring snacks and non alcoholic beverages. My little kids weren’t able to use their floaties but the park has life jackets available for free. Lastly, I wasn’t able to take any pictures, I got one snap of my baby and was told no pictures which I was okay with. I just wanted to add that so nobody expects to just be snapping away when you come 🙅🏾♀️📸

Read moreThis park was hard to find. I was thinking I could park by the recreation building parking but it was locked so I had to circle back. So a tip...go past the recreation parking and then you'll see the baseball fields- turn in there. From there, you'll see a nice expansive lot. You can then continue on the sidewalk which is shaded by the trees- yay. There's also railing for a part of the sidewalk where it dips downward and up to make it more accessible. Then, you reach the playground and the sidewalk stops there. Playground was rather no-frills and had litter. The playground had no seating and there is a 2 feet ledge that divides its two sections- could be a tripping hazard. Also not a fan of those weird tilted poles with the "rock climbing" grips; I gave it a whirl and it didn't feel safe to play on. Not very scenic either- basically just views of the school nearby and a...
Read moreThey have concessions but they allow people to place their belongings on the tables and go swim. The rule is you have to eat in the designated area around the concession stand. With no place for our 3 year old to sit and eat we went to a grassy area where we were told to take it back to the designated area. We let her finish eating when a manager came and told us again to take it back to the area. We explained our dilemma and were just told "thank you". While watching other people eat their sandwiches and chips and drink sodas in other grassy areas we have decided we must have been singled out as all these other families are allowed to do whatever they please. I don't recommend this pool as you may be...
