What a joke this place sucks they don’t understand they are in the service based business and tax dollars is what pays for their existence. Or they do know that and just don’t care let’s make it as hard as we can on the working people in wake county. You would think there would be a common sense approach to policies here. I have lived in wake county for 12 years we own three residential houses we pay stupid property taxes for. Key take away portion of my tax dollars pay for these facilities and the employees who work here.
We do own and operate a plumbing business. In town and have commercial dumpsters at our place of business however I drive a diesel utility company truck every day. No decals simply white I stopped and loaded up a mattress my wife has been asking me to throw away for a month now I already had a flat bed trailer behind truck so I threw it on there . I backed up to the shredder whole stack of mattress and took straps off and guy comes up, hey man we cant take that I looked puzzled and pointed at the towering stack of mattress He said it’s on a trailer I said yea I know you see this truck how would I fit mattress in this truck. He said doesn’t matter because it’s obviously a work truck you couldn’t bring it in here with that anyway. I said well it’s a provable fact I’m a wake county tax payer and there is no way this mattress came from my plumbing business what would you have me do. He said you can take it home and put it in a regular pick up truck that’s not titled in company name and bring it back. I said every vehicle I have is a company truck titled in company name except for my wife’s Denali. I looked at him said are you messing with me makes no since. I could understand if I was a plumbing business and I was trying to throw away construction debris then ok but it’s a mattress. He said or you could go to the scale and pay $10 and then you can dump it I told him this conversation isn’t worth $10.
I told you really felt compelled to leave the shredder and come over and enforce this rule because of the trailer it was one and truck I was pulling it with. I asked him I said so could I have my two helpers drag it from the entrance up there into the convenience center he looked at me like he just got done smoking a blunt and said I don’t know I would have to ask someone we never had someone take that approach before. Complete clown then i circled around and talked to another guy and he was like dang man he stopped you on that I would have just let you throw it on pile obviously it’s not from your business. I said yea one would have thought. So I went to scale gave the lady $10 bucks told her the fiasco she said yea I mean there some open interpretation hey may be worried About loosing job. She said businesses sneaking in and not paying have ruined it for everybody i said yea I understand that but I’m not doing that. Circled back around for mr shredder guy to take my receipt. So I could flip off mattress.
Once again the tax payer, the working people getting...
Read moreUsually this place is pretty good, but lately, they're looking to find or create any reason to not let you dump things there. "Not taking paint today," "these are full". Today I was turned away from dumping a rug because my truck has company signs on it. The same signs that have been on it every other time I go. If you're having trouble making up excuses not to do something at your job, ask the landfill staff, they have hundreds of excuses.
Update: 9/7/22. Went to the landfill today to dispose of household trash and cardboard boxes. Had a pizza box loose with the trash, tried to throw it in the household garbage was told "no that goes in the cardboard recycling." Fair enough, my mistake. Take it to the cardboard recycling along with the other boxes and was told "that goes in the regular trash". I just took it home and will put it in a trash bag.
5 weeks ago: an elderly lady I know had a large, heavy, old console TV to throw away. No sweat right? Take it to the electric recycling, and no one will help take it off the truck, ask them if I can drop it and use their handcart to move it to the stack? "No, you have to bring your own". I just dropped it and left it where it sat.
The older guys there are cool and helpful, but the younger employees have an axe to grind with certain...
Read moreDo NOT try to dump something if you are in a uhaul. Some guy who referred to himself as "the manager" turned us away and told us we needed to get some sort of pass that apparently takes ~1 hour to get. The guy told us we needed this pass to be able to dump there, even though the flier he gave us said it was specifically only commercial dumping. We were not commercially dumping, but they turned us away anyways. We had a time limit on our uhaul and had to figure something out which was a huge hassle.
He said we could go home, transfer all of our stuff into a pickup truck and bring it back and we would be able to dump there. That makes zero sense, it's the same stuff who cares what vehicle we bring...
