Okay... yes, it's a dump... literally. All joking aside, this place is great and you should utilize what's available there more often! There are only two places in all of Wake County were you can take any kind of waste and this is the nicest.
This is the perfect place to dispose of old paint, chemicals, etc as well as recyclables, and just the general junk that accumulates in your home over time. They are well staffed and have organized drop off spots for all types of materials and are open all day on Saturdays... not just during the week.
Tips for first time visitors:
Wood, metal, and general "dump" items can all go to the drop off on the left side at the entrance.
If you have HAZMAT items (paint chemicals, etc), electronics, old florescent bulbs, that type of thing... you need to go into the drop off areas on the right and just look for the signs that tell you what...
Read moreQuick in/out with Dump Trailer. It’s a Decent dump site, just have to go up a big hill most times and it is all dirt. I’ve been able to get out without picking up nails, but I doubt most are so fortunate as it is difficult to know what’s on the ground. Just be careful not to pull into a pile of shingles… and be sure to rent a trailer from a company that’ll send you out with a great (Odyssey AGM by Enersys) battery to dump that load….
