I do a lot business in hardware stores, I do mechanic work on tractors and farm equipment for a local, organic produce farm and usually have a couple other projects going on as well. This last week I was working on getting my moms rental fixed up and ready for a new tenant and I was detailing a car for my dad to sell. I came in to this Ace with a shopping list for everything I needed that day and was prepared to spend a fair amount of money. I was very friendly and asked for assistance finding a few things. After a few minutes, it was apparent that the woman working had something against me, Iām assuming because I arrived on a motorcycle?ā¦. I donāt know. Anyhow, they watched me like a hawk, accused me of stealing and raised a stink about my small leather bag that I use to carry my things while Iām riding, despite there being women shopping in the store with far larger purses, my bag was an issue apparently. At this point I returned the items I had in my basket to their respective shelves and left without buying anything. Luckily, the folks at Hensels Ace Hardware in downtown Arcata were very friendly and helpful and I was able to get everything I needed for the day. From here on out I will not be doing business with Ace Hardware in Sunny Brae. Not only does Hensels have a better selection, but the staff is far kinder and less judgmental and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI really can't believe I am having to write this, but I have too. With Covid surging all over the US ....this Ace could be the epitome of why. I ordered online for safe curbside, no contact pick up. When I called to say that I was there they sent an associate out to my car, and I had the trunk open. He walks straight to the drivers window, and I had to point to the open trunk which he finally put my stuff in, but then again he headed to the car window and motioned that I needed to open my window. He handed me a piece of paper that he said I needed to sign. He was not wearing a mask, and handed me a pen to sign some internal document to say that I received my stuff. I am getting so tired of these companies that just don't get it, there is nothing they sell that I can't buy online, and I will just not go here again. To companies that want us to buy local, great...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCan't believe this happened to me. I went into the store to buy an American flag. When walking in a just simply asked where the flags were located and was pointed into the direction. The gentleman that pointed me into the direction began to laugh, after I walked away, and told his female co-worker that " see he is now looking for a flag". A older man from the back comes out and says " why he asking for a flag is the democrats joining together now" and then proceeded to talk extremely bad about the democratics. As I was getting checked out the older gentleman continued to talk massive amounts of hate about democrats. This unprofessional attitude is something I am deeply ashamed to have heard, I am just thankful a young poc wasn't there to hear such rude and plain...
