Houston Grass — Local services in Arcola

I ordered three pallets of sod from Houston Grass to repair damaged areas of my lawn. I ordered two pallets of St Augustine Cobalt for the shady areas under a live oak and on the north side of my house and one pallet of St. Augustine Raliegh for sunnier areas on the west side of my house that needed repair after the dry 2023 season. The Cobalt sod arrived in excellent condition and rapidly established itself. It looks very good at this point. I have plans to trim the live oak tree, so the grass is less shaded. So far, I am very happy with it, but I'll know more in autumn. Some of the Raliegh sod was not in excellent condition when it arrived. There were several layers of yellow sod and some of the sod looked grey. I was concerned that the grey color was caused by a fungus. Even though the Raliegh sod did not look as good as the Cobalt, it seems to have established itself very well, and the off-color pieces rapidly greened up. At this time, I am happy with the Raliegh sod in the sunnier areas of the lawn. Now, I need several more pieces of St. Augustine Cobalt because a city crew if digging up the lawn to replace a leaking water meter. I am sure the new sod appreciated...

We can say enough positive things about Houston Grass or the installation team that performed the work. The quality of the grass was matched by that of the installation team. The sod was fresh (cut that morning, thick, and green. Omar and his team did an awesome job with the installation. They had to overcome multiple challenges from extreme heat, some unexpected heavy storms, as well as a relatively large amount of surface roots. They overcame the challenges and far exceeded our expectations.

The results are simply awesome. They finished yesterday and I have already received at least a dozen compliments from the neighborhood and strongly recommended Houston Grass to those interested. What made this even better for us was the time frame in which we were able to get this completed. It was less than two weeks from request to completion. This is the second time we have used Houston Grass.They performed a smaller job for us (backyard 2.5 pallets) in the spring. This was 14 pallets and about 7000 sq. feet.

After building our first home we needed to find a good company to help us sod our large backyard. After heavy rain a lot of the sand had washed away so we needed someone who could also help us with some grade work and evening out dips and low spots. I called three companies to compare price and services and was immediately impressed with HGS. Anderson came to our home the afternoon of my initial telephone call to walk my back yard and talk to me about the grading and weed control and their services. They delivered extra sand to even out our entire yard and add more support around the fence line. They delivered bright green, very healthy grass and completed the entire install in one day and Anderson called me to give frequent status updates throughout the project since i couldn’t be present.
