Not happy at all and won’t go back.
Had battery change on expensive watch. First it took a long time to open watch to replace battery.
Second, the screw was lost that holds the battery so she replaced it with another but I am not sure if it’s the same kind of screw that would come with that type watch.
She did monitor watch for a few minutes to be sure it was working so I left on the assumption it was working.
30 minutes later my wife and I were walking The mall and she noticed the watch was not working. I went to three jewelry stores in mall to get another battery because I did not want to drive back there.
The first store said they coul not touch that type watch. The second store the gentlemen looked at the watch WITH AN EYE PIECE MAGNIFIER and said he could not do it and also noted to me that it had been scratched where someone had previously opened it or tried. The third store the gentlemen looked at it and said I need to take it to a speacial watch store and he too noted that it was scratched.
Now don’t you think the lady at TomKat Jewlers schould of told me the watch was scratched before she started to work on it? Since 3 jewelry stores at the mall refused to change the battery, was she really qualified to work on such an expensive watch.
Lastly I after learning what 3 Jewlers said I called TomKat jeweled to tell them 1 the watch is not working and 2 that the watch is scratched.
They went on the defensive and denied that they scratched the watch. And that the scratch was already there and boasted of there 40 years of experience.
Very unprofessional compared to the three jewelry stores at the mall. and I just won’t go back...
Read moreWE had a very bad experience at TomKat Jewelers. On August 3, 2018 we showed Kat two, old, signed, Zuni Indian silver pins with inlaid tortoise shell, coral, jet, and mother of pearl bird designs.and asked if she could modify the CLASPS so it could be worn as a pendant. She offered to solder a bail to the back instead. My husband said we had been told not to solder because the heat would knockout the inlay and damage the silver. Kat then said she uses a new, different type of solder which wasn't as hot and safe to use with inlay jewelry. She was very wrong. Three weeks later, after been told "not ready" four times, my husband picked up the pins one of which had a glob of excess epoxy covering the bird. It was obvious that the coral, jet and other inlay pieces including 4 Tortiose shell triangles had fallen out of the pins and were damaged . Also the bails had excess, lumpy solder where attached. I am now looking for an honest, experienced with inlay work to repair the damage,...
Read moreI have gone to TomKat jewelers for several jewelry items with great success. I had silver rings resized, 2 links with stones removed from a tanzanite bracelet, Kat extended a beautiful Native American made silver onyx cuff bracelet (was originally made for a smaller wrist), and she fixed a previous jeweler's flawed way of attaching a large labradorite to a unique silver bracelet. The labradorite bracelet was tough because even the original jewelry designer was unable to determine a fix and so the stone and the basket would not continue to disconnect without destroying the design. Kat's prices are fair and service is usually approximately 2 weeks since she is a one-woman show. All items came out perfect, like they were designed that way. Kat takes great pride in her work.
