Last year, I attempted my 1st ever, in ground, vegetable garden, using only veteran owned, locally grown, Ross Farm veg starts. Holy geez, was it a SUCCESS!! With the expert advice of Mrs Susie & Darling Nikki, my garden yielded so many delicious cucumbers, peppers, tomatoes & okra! The difference in taste from home grown, organic to grocery was 100% worth the effort. My health benefited too, I lost weight & soaked up precious solar power. All I did was use an auger drill bit to make the holes, water & prune. I used marigolds & lemon grass to keep pests off & I let the bees do their thing. I had so many veggies, I didn’t have to buy from the store & I was able to share with neighbors & family. Their prices are excellent & the quality & variety is unmatched. They also have the coolest planters, pre-filled with all sorts & sizes of green leaf plants, succulents and fun cacti, which make excellent gifts for co-workers, teachers, family & friends. SHOP LOCAL FOLKS, they support our community, so let’s support them too! Ross Farm is my favorite place to visit when I need some retail therapy & farm family love. It’s our very own botanical wonderland, right here in Asheville NC. Thanks Farm Fam-see you soon for this...
Read moreI love the vibes of this nursery, but if you're looking for interesting/cool houseplants, this place might not be it. They have TONS of cool and unique houseplants all along the nursery, but only 0.1% are for sale, and then it's not even any of the really cool ones. I was looking for a Philo Mayoi, and was only able to find one large pot for $75, but these Philo Mayois are creeping all over the nursery, getting stepped on, and just vining throughout (as plants do); and the worker I asked about, didn't even look my way and said "yeah that's all we got!" ... rude, thanks for that!
It would be so awesome if this place would capitalize on the many cool, rare, unique houseplants they have climbing the walls, or even offer cuttings of said plants (suggestion) -- the painted ladies, the philos, hell even the big monsteras! It might seem like a loss, doing cuttings, but I would imagine plant collectors would swarm like flies for cuttings of those (I know I would).
Overall, just a shame. This place has so many beautiful plants, but none of the cooler plants...
Read moreWorst experience here just now. No staff were at the checkout desk to assist us. After looking for some assistance for several minutes with no sign of anyone, we stood at the checkout counter with our plants. Ten minutes later, still with no sign of a staff member, a couple also ready to checkout, stated they were ready to checkout and a staff member came out to ring them up. We were overlooked completely by the staff member and she proceeded to ring them up even though we were waiting for at least 10 minutes prior to when the other couple was ready to checkout. The employee did not acknowledge us at all as she put their total on the card reader. We had to physically move out of the way for the other couple to pay. We left without our plants and will not be back. I will discourage everyone I know to not come back to Ross Farms. They obviously don’t want or need my business anyways. Absolutely...
