If I could give NEGATIVE stars!!! Do NOT, I repeat, do NOT take a prom dress or anything with beaded details to this man. I'm sure he does a fine job with altering basic pants, skirts, shirts. Who knows. I'll never be back either way. Here's our experience: Dropped off a prom dress on February 7th. Made sure he knew we needed it complete the first week of April which gave him plenty of time (8 weeks!) to complete the work. Didn't indicate an issue with the alterations work we agreed upon. Was nice enough at that time. I called on April 1st to check on it. Hadn't even started it! Said to pick up April 9th. Called on Friday, April 8th to make sure it would be ready. Yes, ready at 4pm the next day. Show up and he is in an OUTRAGE about the dress breaking his needle. I mean slamming his steam iron onto a pair of pants over & over. He's got a call into the repair guy from Atlanta which will cost $100. Told me I could just take the dress to the mall alterations place or David's bridal. WHAT?! Now that I need it IMMEDIATELY! That was why I took it early to someone to avoid that stress! Raised voice about his broken needle, the cost to repair the machine, and on and on. Does a business with overhead not keep a backup machine in case the one thing you MUST have to conduct business breaks??!! How stupid!! And then blaming the customer with a raised voice, very agitated, with aggressive actions with a steaming hot iron?! Honestly, it was shocking the difference in his personality change from when we dropped off and picked up. Again, NEGATIVE 100 out of 10 recommend. Do...
Read moreEric's a great guy and tailor. I had him hem a tux pantsuit for me 3 and half a years ago with no problems. I went in the other day (3 and half a years late rmind you) and he remembered me, that i had been in before! Crazy (no I'm not weird looking or memorable). Anyway, that impressed me. I had another pair of pants that needing hemming and he took care of it while I waited. Eric is very passionate about his profession and loves to share little tidbits about how this is made or that is made and what to look for to know if something is made well. To the other reviewers that have had a problem leaving items and getting them done on time I can't really speak to that as he's always done mine while I wait (simple pant hemming). But my wife had a dress altered a few years ago and we got back in time with no problem. Small data point I know but he can get stuff on time. I think he sometimes takes on more than he can chew would be my guess. Also, he is cheap, too cheap I think. He charged me just $16... I gave him $20 I felt so bad. He should charge more, save the difference and hire an assistant. He really should be running a much larger shop for as good as he is, but oftentimes those very skilled in their craft don't have a good business instinct (as in how to grow the business). But maybe he's happy being a one man shop and there is nothing wrong with that either, I just know he could grow it if...
Read moreI needed some pants hemmed for a groomsman suit, found this shop and had a fantastic experience.
I forgot to bring dress shoes with me for measurement, and I didn't realize he didn't take card. I ran back home to get my checkbook (and dress shoes and the suit jacket at his suggestion). I was gone for 10 minutes, and when I got back he had already hemmed the pants. Tried them on with dress shoes, and to my inexperienced eyes, they looked like a perfect fit. Eric said they were a little off and redid the hem to get them really perfect.
He didn't charge me extra for the trouble of doing the hem twice (despite not bringing dress shoes for the first fit being 100% my fault), and he pressed the pants and jacket for free. I ended up talking with him for another 30 minutes after that. He's super friendly, and you can tell he takes a lot of pride in his work just from hearing him talk about the job.
Also, I recommended him to a friend needing the same work done. He just went today and told me he also had a great experience there.
A few notes to remember: He only takes cash or check. His sign says "By Appointment." I got lucky and he wasn't that busy, but if you want to be safe, call ahead and make an...
