How cool is it that Austin has its own resource for learning how to print and bind your own books? The Austin Brook Arts Center has classes to teach you everything from setting the typefaces on a hand-cranked printer, to binding your own novel, to printing out high-quality postcards and business materials. This is DIY culture at its most literate. I visited the open house event two days ago and now I'm looking forward to enrolling in their fall workshops. Read moreTook a letterpress class with Amanda at Austin Book Arts Center. It was very informative and fun. The space is small but has more than enough room for the students and equipment. The class was very hands on and we all got to design our own cards and use the letterpress equipment.
The six hours flew by and I was really surprised the class covered so much in that time. I would definitely take another class there. Also I'd recommend bringing a lunch for classes since there are not too many eating...
