I bought a 2021 Jeep Renegade this year. Had to search around because alot of lots didn't have any, including Tomko. One of the selling points was the 3 free oil change/tire rotations at any jeep dealer. I was happy with that knowing I had Tomko at the end of my street. I called 2 weeks ago to schedule my oil change and was told they were booked into December and were not taking any appointments, and to call back in 2 weeks and they would schedule me then. Fine, no problem. I call back in 2 weeks and was told that they are now booked through January and to again call back in 2 weeks. I said I've already done that and asked if I could please schedule for January before they got any further backed up. I was put on hold and then the service manager, I'm assuming, picked up and before I could say anything proceeded to bite my head off about how busy they are and that he's not taking responsibility scheduling out that far. I asked how I'm supposed t make an appointment then, which really set him off. I explained I was not trying to be difficult, just wanted to schedule. He then asked where I bought my car, I told him N .Olmsted. He questioned me why I would go there if they were down the street. I explained that they didn't have any Renegades and I had no choice. He stated he saves his slots for the people that spend their hard money at his lot an that maybe I should just go back to where I bought it from. Keep in mind he had no idea where I bought my car until just then. He said I was not happy because I wasn't getting my way. Again explained that all I want is to make a service appointment. He said "Have you ever heard of this?" I asked heard of what...and he hung up on me. I have never in my life been treated or talked to so rudely by any business, ever!!! It was very disappointing to me because I grew up in Avon Lake, they have been there all my life, my parents bought cars from them and I assumed they were a reputable company. Very sad that as a staple business in Avon Lake for that long that they treat people this way. I called back after that and left a voicemail for Paul Tomko but got no response. Shout out to N. Olmsted CJDR for scheduling me with in a week of me calling today...anybody need great friendly service I suggest you go to them and not Tomko!!! And to the gentleman in the service department...Karma will get ya sooner or later. I can see by the other reviews here I am not the 1st to be treated this way. I will gladly take my...
Read moreWe started at a nearby dealership. They said they could trade with Ed Tomko to get the Jeep we wanted. This was after a visit to our local Ford dealership who told us dealers aren't trading 2023 models due to high demand.
We put down $500 at the nearby dealership. The next day, they said the Jeep we wanted was in the process of being sold and they couldn't get it.
My wife had the VIN, looked it up and found it at Ed Tomko. She called...no one was trying to purchase it (classic bait and switch by our nearby dealership). We put down money directly with Ed Tomko CJD even though we had to drive over 6 hours each way.
The Jeep is for my wife who is very particular about the color scheme and features of the vehicle she drives. Due to the specials Jeep was offering, there were very few left that she wanted the closest being at Ed Tomko.
We arrived the morning before Thanksgiving when the dealership opened. They had the Jeep ready to go and the paperwork was about as fast as I have ever experienced (I have bought many cars over the years). Everyone at the dealership was very nice and easy to work with.
At this point, my wife would rather drive the 6 hours than work with our local dealer. We won't even use our nearby dealer for service (they have been awful), but luckily our son is a mechanic at a Ford dealership owned by the same person as a closer Jeep dealership (not the one we went to first since we knew they didn't have the car she wanted on their lot). It will go with our son when it needs service, not to our local dealership. The dealership our son works for isn't as close as the one we started with, but he will take it in himself unless it isn't able to be driven. He is only about 15 minutes from us, the dealership he works for is about 45-50 minutes away. The only thing positive I have to say about our nearby dealership is they did refund the $500 promptly.
I would love to use the service department at Ed Tomko if they are even close to as good as the sales department, but 12 hours round trip is a bit far for service (unfortunately).
Bottom line, we both highly recommend Ed Tomko CJD to anyone looking to buy a new car, based on...

I live out of state and was willing to make a long drive to buy a vehicle and trade mine in, but this place completely wasted my time. From the beginning, the salesperson kept pressuring me to come in, even after I clearly explained I needed everything laid out in writing before making a multi-hour drive. I repeatedly asked for a breakdown of costs, but all she kept saying was, “Just trust me.” That’s a huge red flag.
After two days of going back and forth, she finally sent over a written quote—and surprise—it didn’t match anything she promised. The prices were higher and included fees and add-ons she never mentioned. When I called her out on it, she suddenly had someone from finance call me.
That’s when things got even worse. The finance guy was completely unprofessional. He was rude, used profanity during our conversation, and even went so far as to say she was slow and that she lied about checking with the manager. Seriously? That’s how this place handles business?
To top it off, they tried to add on a service package that only works in their state—things like free oil changes and lifetime batteries. I told them that was useless to me since I don’t live there, and I wasn’t driving out of state just to get an oil change. The finance guy said he’d talk to the manager and see what he could do. Ten minutes later, he called me back saying the best they could offer was a couple hundred dollars off that pointless service package—and they still refused to honor the original deal I was promised.
He even had the nerve to argue with me, saying, “If you really had a better deal, you wouldn’t be talking to me,” and “You don’t know business.” I’ve never left a review before in my life, but this dealership was so unorganized, dishonest, and disrespectful that I felt obligated to warn others.
Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this place. They’ll say anything to get you in the door, then switch the terms, talk down to you, and treat you like you’re the problem when you question them. I wouldn’t recommend this...
