Grewal Travel Center — Local services in Baker

My husband & I are commercial drivers & were thankful to be able to use the dirt lot beside this station to park overnight. However, that’s the only positive thing I have to say about this location. When we arrived, I went to the women’s bathroom which had garbage overflowing & things like toilet paper, etc on the floor. We went to eat & I specifically went & asked an employee for the store hours. I had saw that the Google listing states that they are 24/7, but I had seen a few reviews complaining of the store being closed during the night. The young man I spoke to said the store is open all night, but the restaurants close at 8. This was great news to me as we were parked for the night & would probably be needing to use the restroom at some point throughout the night. A little before 2 AM, I went into the store to use the restroom. When I exited the restroom all the lights in the store were off & the doors were locked from the outside with chains & pad locks. Luckily, I was able to beat on the door as an older gentleman who works there was walking away from the building so that he could let me out. I’m still in shock at the fact that the bathrooms weren’t checked before the doors were locked. If the hours are 24/7 then the employee(s) closing the store should have to abide by that… Definitely an odd &...

I can't say enough nice things about this place and the great guys that work there so accommodating and not intimidating as employees tend to be in these types of businesses because the customer that go there are usually so pedestrian in and out and sometimes fast and Curt so there's no time for the employee to even show any kind of personal care towards the customer it's just very matter of fact usually not here they made me feel like I was a long distance relative and the guys in the back helped repair my vehicle because an engine cover fell off of the undercarriage that it was attached to on the freeway just before the exit to get off to get to this travel center there's all kinds of nice people that work there from the food vendors to the cashiers in the gas station to the attendance and the men's rest area and above all the two gentlemen in the garage behind the gas station just the best customer service so welcoming and they made me feel like the rest of my trip home would be safe and I would be home in one piece you owe it to yourself to stop here whether you're hungry whether you need vehicle repair or whether you just want to stop and talk to some nice people this is what customer service is...

The parking lot is very small and not enough handicap parking . The gas area is good size and the bathrooms were big and nice and clean . They have a KFC , Subway and Fat Burger restaurant inside. The eating area is very large but not kept really clean. The way you have to buy a fountain drink is a little unusual and kind of inconvenient. Pay for the cup first and they dont have the prices...
