Flew into town for business and looked at reviews for take-out options. Somehow this place was one of the highest rated in town with many reviews. I love this type of food so much that I’ve pretty much never not enjoyed it, wherever it’s from. Until now.
HOW my experience was so different than these reviews is beyond my understanding. Do yourself a favor and read the lowest rating reviews. And believe them. They are spot on. The only positive at all is the young lady working there was very nice.
The food wasn’t ready on time despite no other customers. It took me 10 minutes of calling out “hello anybody there?” Before I saw anyone. The place was so incredibly unclean I don’t think I’ve ever seen any like it, even in the most dank hole in the wall sketchiest places in Philly.
I can’t believe that 1) I didn’t just turn around and RUN out 2) I ate anything at all after seeing and smelling the dirt and grime and and 3) the health department hasn’t shut this place down. Does Bangor have restaurant inspections? Because if they do they are obviously cruising right on past this place.
The food was so bad I took a few bites and threw it all away. The beef gyro had beef that was seasoned very very poorly and dry, I cook this food at home so I am very familiar with the spices and how to use them. Not sure if they are bc it’s just so off and bad. There was barely any (no flavor) sauce with gross looking onions and green peppers. Green peppers?? And the pita was microwaved and leathery. The fries were limp, cold, undercooked and under seasoned. The chicken thigh dripped with grease and soft skin underneath so I didn’t bother. And my drink choices were Pepsi or Diet Pepsi.
I seriously do not know how this place is in business. And I seriously don’t know how I didn’t get violently ill even only a couple bites. After this experience I feel very sorry for the young lady working there. If this is a family business I’ll assume she is stuck but if it’s not she needs to run and find another place to work.
And if people here really think that food is good, I think someone just needs to open a halal cart and stand back to rake in the business.
One last time: disgustingly dirty, subpar ingredients and flavor and just far too bad to ever contemplate going near that...
Read moreWas introduced to this restaurant by a friend back in 2020. I like the food here, very delicious! Owned by a small family of four and they are all very nice. Not a complete 5 star for me, I'd actually give it a 3 1/2 if I could. Wait time is a bit excessive at times and it's not in the matter of impatience or unreasonableness. You may order something ahead of time ( like an hour before)... come to pick it up and it's not even finished -but you were told on the phone "20 minutes" and this has happened more than a few times... When dining in, the tables are sometimes left sticky and messy. Another thing to watch out for is your total amount $. This also has happened more than a couple times where I order something and the price is incorrect and too high from what is put on the menu & calculated with tax. When that happens I just don't tip. Another thing that has happened too much is sometimes you might order something and if they don't have it, they will make you something else and charge you for the price of the food you didn't 🥴rder. Personally I find that rude. Or you get just one thing out of the 1/4 thing you ordered. Also my friends who have been ordering from this place more than I have shared the same complaints. I don't know if it's a language barrier thing or... I don't think these things are being done intentionally, but they definitely need to be worked on. The positive for me is; how kind the family is, a huge menu and lots to choose from, the strawberry...
Read moreWent to lunch with my wife today. The food was lousy, the store was dirty and the service was less than satisfactory. I got there after driving from Waterville and needed to use the bathroom. We were the first customers of the day and there was dried pee on the toilet seat. I had to clean it off for my wife to use. There’s dust and dirt everywhere and the ceiling tiles are stained and dirty. The tables are wobbly. There were no napkins in the napkin holder. My wife got the chicken kabobs which were simply chunks of chicken stained with red food coloring and grilled, on a pile of fairly bland dry basmati rice and a smattering of lettuce with a few chopped tomatoes and a cucumber slice. The meal came with a little cup of a mint gyro sauce no salad dressing. I got the chicken kofka served with the same rice, salad, and sauce. The chicken kofka was dry heavily peppered and tasteless. I also ordered falafels which were cooked to almost burnt on the outside and doughy on the inside. Served with no sauce or garnish. We saw the owner, I guess, when we ordered and about 25 minutes later when he served the food. We never saw him again. This cost me almost $45 bucks with a tip. I tipped before I got the food or else I wouldn’t have tipped at all if I knew it was going to be so crappy. Bottom line, don’t waste your...
