UPDATED: Due to the unprofessional and disrespectful response from this business's owner/management, I have adjusted my review accordingly. The owner apparently does not appreciate fair and honest reviews of their guests' experience. Given that I originally gave a very moderate 3-star review and said I planned to stay with them again, I am quite disappointed the owner decided to lecture and berate a paying guest of their business, on a public domain at that (I can't imagine how they might speak to guests in a non-public setting). I do not feel this is a good business practice at all. Thank you to the owner for asking that I do not stay with them again, I no longer plan to and will happily give my money to someone that appreciates their customers.
Here is my updated, very honest review:
Overall, we enjoyed several aspects of the cabin. We stayed in the Little Bear Cabin, which was welcoming and clean. The main negative we had with the cabin itself was the queen mattress. We barely got any sleep on it, and it seemed there could be damage to the springs or something. We did not like the mattress no matter the reason and we normally sleep fine on most mattresses, or the ground, etc. I am redacting my comment on the fact that the cabins are not true log cabins, after reviewing their website, they do not advertise that they have log cabins, it is only in their business name, so I should not assume. The cabins are convenient to Banner Elk and Sugar Mountain. Note that you may need an SUV/truck and even 4x4/AWD to access the property depending on conditions. Finally, we did not receive our security deposit back within two weeks of our stay, which is in their policy. I had to follow-up and ask for it. Two weeks should be plenty of time and given it is their policy, it should be a routine process to inspect the cabin and then issue reimbursement. Ultimately, my entire experience with this cabin rental business has been spoiled by the owner's unprofessional and disrespectful response to even the slightest amount...
Read moreI recently had a 2 night stay in the Mountaineer Cabin. I loved it. The cabin is new and fresh, and all the amenities are there one would expect. It's tucked away off a gravel road giving the feeling of being far out, but still quite near the restaurants of Banner Elk and all of the nearby attractions. Grandfather Mountain and 2 major ski resorts are very close, so choosing here makes a great home base to experience those things. Sara (owner) was easy and pleasant to deal with, and makes the guest expectations clear and simple to follow. It almost feels like you're renting a friend's cabin. You don't treat it like a hotel room. There are a few more things you'll have to do, like start the towels in the laundry before you leave, and put your dishes in the dishwater. Common sense things you would do as good manners staying at a friend's place. But the price is fair and the experience wonderful. The cabin has Direct TV, a nice hot tub on the porch, a private fire pit, and sits among a grove of Christmas trees. I took full advantage of all in my short stay. Having wine by the fire was a standout. And speaking of that, Lowes Foods just up the road, has an outstanding beer and wine section, and I highly recommend that store to stock your cabin. Stay here without hesitation. You'll enjoy...
Read moreFirst off perfect floor plan for Country Bumpkin Cabin! It was the perfect utilization of space for what we needed and if you are bringing a child that is physically capable they are going to love the loft! We didn't use it but it was awesome for my inner child to see. They include a large variety of things in the cabin for you to use that we were not expecting and had already purchased prior to going but the thought that goes into their cabins is amazing. The two person shower was awesome for my wife and I as simply put you spend less time waiting to shower and more time enjoying the great location! The location of the cabin was perfect for us as it was right in the middle of everything we wanted to do. The hot tub was great and they leave chemicals and instructions for you to keep it sanitary over your entire stay. Along with the hot tub you also get a great front porch that backs up to woods and your own private fire pit. We didn't use the fire pit but it was in a great location relevant to the cabin. We will definitely be staying here again in the future...
