Our family of 5 had a great time at Elk Creek this past weekend! This was our 1st time going and we are glad we did! We will definitely be back! Plenty of room and nearby options for food and fun! In my opinion, the house would comfortably sleep any 8 adult/children combination... You have local choices and national choices for your meals to fit your budget and time availability. If you like to cook, you could bring your own stuff to cook your meals in-house. If you didn't have room or time to bring your own food, another option for in-house cooking is to shop at Food Lion or Lowe's Foods that are within a couple of minutes drive from the house. The kitchen is fully equipped for any type of cooking or even grilling out on the front porch that views the back side of Beech Mountain.
Speaking of, we went to HawksNest to go tubing with our crew which was a 15 or so minute drive from the house. Beech Mountain and Sugar Mountain are actually closer and more geared towards skis and boards, but also have tubing options.
This review is mainly for snow and winter activities since that is the time of year we went. However, during our time there, we also noticed other non-winter options for us to do like hiking at Grandfather Mountain, UTV Oufitter Trails, the Linville Caverns, Ziplines and the Wilderness Run Alpine Coaster...all options that we will be doing once the temps get warmer! So you better get on their calendar for the Elk Creek House before we do or you'll miss out! We absolutely loved this place! Everything is so clean, easy and professional!! It is so convenient for anything that you would like to do...even chill out by the fire while watching the Bigscreen TV in your PJ's all day like my wife did!! Hahaha! We needed a medical and toiletry item that we forgot...Walgreen's is right down the street. Antiquing your thing? 3 Antique stores in 4 miles of the house! Definitely time and money well spent...actually "invested" for our family getaway!
Sorry for the lengthy review, but we just fell in love with this place and can't wait to get back! We are telling all of our friends!
5+...
Read moreWe booked as a party of senior citizens (3 couples) for a 4 night 3 day stay. Someone one else in our party managed the booking. The house suited our requirements of 3 en-suite bedrooms, deck, family room with kitchen and views. This rental hit all of our wants. Additionally, the location was well situated for day trips to mountain tourist attractions. We did Grandfather Mountain, Blowing Rock, Boone, the Blueridge Parkway, Mt Mitchel, and Linville Falls. There are several good restaurants in Banner Elk as well as Boone and Blowing Rock, The house was well equipped with all the kitchen tools and appliances needed. Our bed was comfortable and the master bath was gigantic with a huge walk in closet. The house also had two “loft" bedrooms with single beds. There are no loft bathrooms. The deck offered very nice views and we were visited by hummingbirds in the late afternoon. There was a feeder for the hummingbirds that was empty, but I made up some sugar and maple syrup water and the birds seemed to really like it. The only meals we had were breakfast so the kitchen did not get much use from us. There is a full laundry room which we did use and a 2 car garage. The garage door needs some lubrication as it is quite squeaky going up and down, but perhaps it scars the bears away. There is a hike down to the street to put out the garbage (no recycling bins , and the garbage bins are auto locking (to keep the bears out) and left on the street. Our stay was most enjoyable and the house exceeded my expectations. It is an excellent and comfortable place for a...
Read moreI have stayed here at least five times, with family and with friends. My wife and I simply love this place! I've been too lazy to write a review before now; since I am still lazy I will keep this short.
This is a new house, a very cool design on the highest ground in a new subdivision. It offers you probably all you need if you are visiting the "High Country (which is roughly the triangle formed by Boone, Linville and Blowing Rock, and inclusive of Valle Crucis, Beech Mountain and Banner Elk). The property is in a terrific location with easy access to all the necessities and to all the attractions in the area.
Three great bedrooms downstairs, and bunking opportunities upstairs; nice roomy garage, which you're going to want when the weather gets cold up there. Very nice and spacious kitchen, too with stool seating for socializing while cooking, etc. There is also a nice deck with a grill and some great views of Lees McRae College and Banner Elk. There is even a fire pit with seating around out back, though I've not used that so far.
Complementing the physical are some qualitative aspects; for instance superior privacy - something i give high priority to. Also, the owners are super nice, congenial and ultra-responsive, and seemed focused on making sure our stay was as pleasant as possible.
Recently, my wife and I purchased a small farm not far from this property, and one day we will probably build our own house. Until that time, I plan to keep coming back here and even after that will recommend...
