We always try to support local thrift type shops to help the community. On a recent doctor visit in Baraboo, we stopped at this store. As seems to be the trend now with many thrift stores, the prices are out of line for donated goods. If the goal is to raise money for your organization, make items affordable for those customers in need. And, for the high-end collectibles and antiques, you're pricing like an antique shop or eBay. You may feel you can get a top dollar for these pieces, but here is a fact: Avid collectors will not seek out antiques in a thrift store. The only people who shop thrift stores for antiques are antique DEALERS. They will not pay these high prices because they will not make a profit for resale. So, you're pricing out the main customers of your store. I've heard this complaint from dozens of people in recent years, and it is a common issue on negative reviews. More specifically to this store, we could not believe in seeing several nonstick pans on the wall with the teflon material worn off! These are not safe. Also, kitchen utensils like spatulas that were not even clean from food particles. The womens bathroom was also quite filthy. Read moreI stopped in this restore on Saturday August 27th and saw a clock that I liked in the Christmas section. Unfortunately it did not have a battery cover and there was no price tag anywhere so I inquired on the price. A large heavy set man with glasses helped me and stated that he would not be able to sell me the item until he looked for the battery cover in the Christmas section later on in the day. I told him that I lived in Milwaukee so I guess I wouldn't be able to purchase the item then. If their goal is to make money for charity you think that they would have made a price up on the spot and sold me the item. Obviously they make enough money where they don't have to provide customer service. The whole situation turned me off and I will not shop in the store...
Read moreReviews that state this restore is dirty and items are overpriced is accurate. Who would pay $45 for a rusted cast iron skillet when you can go down the road to Festival and buy one for $32 thats pre-seasoned? I feel sorry for the locals that have limited options for thrifting in the area.
As far as your reply to the skillets, that's nonesense, how do you know if its older. I have bought several new cast iron skillets and a Dutch oven. They work beautifully and cost less than $45. A rusted cast iron skillet needs to be seasoned because it hasn't been properly cared for, not...
