We brought in two healthy dogs to have a weeklong board and train and came home with two sick dogs. At pick up we had training with the dogs individually. Right when they brought our first dog Misia out, we were shocked at her eyes being red, squinted, and covered in gunk. After asking the trainer about this she said her eyes have had a lot of discharge during her stay and she had to clean them out every few days. I want to mention that Misia has NEVER had this much or this color of discharge. We texted almost daily for updates on the girls, and no one mentioned her eyes or even asked if this was normal for her. When they brought our other dog, Pia, we immediately noticed she was not breathing normally and was reverse sneezing and choking which she never does. We wrote an email to Bark Avenue to talk more about their health and how long this has gone on for. We were told by them that they do daily health checks and never noticed anything wrong with the girls, which is quite strange especially when Misia’s eye was very crusty, and her trainer even said it has been like that before. We were told by Bark Avenue that Pia’s reverse sneezing and coughing was just because she was very excited to see us and that they have seen this before. The night Pia was home she was not breathing normally so we took her to the vet that next morning and she ended up having an upper respiratory infection. We reached back out to Bark Avenue with this information, and they do not take any blame, but it is pretty strange that two healthy dogs came home with problems. We have taken Misia here before for play time and enjoyed it, so we thought their boarding would be awesome. We were very disappointed and want to share our experience. This place may be good for bigger dogs but I DO NOT recommend someone boarding their smaller dog here because things like this should not be...
Read moreI can’t thank Kelly and Bark Avenue enough and will forever recommend their training services! I came to Kelly with tears in my eyes and an 18mo old rescue puppy with reaction issues in hand. Because of the strikes against him, I very much thought my dog was living on borrowed time. I quickly started private training classes with Kelly. This gave me some tools to work with Harley to ensure safety of not only people in contact with him, but for Harley too. Within a few months I had Harley enrolled in board-n-train with Kelly. Harley stayed not only at the Bark Avenue facility- but I was pleasantly surprised when I found out Harley would be the first to try a new program being offered: he would be going home with Kelly for further training on nights and weekends!! Harley has been home with me for five days and while we still have a lot of work ahead of us, I already see the immense improvements made! Harley had my heart from the moment I saw him and I loved him before training, but now I get to enjoy him! This time with tears of joy- I thank Kelly and Bark Avenue for the conversations, the tools needed for the road ahead, the continued support in training, and most importantly- for giving me dog...
Read moreI have no idea what happened with our pups, but they both came back after a 5 day board in pain. One has the human version of athletes foot and the other has pain around his ribs. They came back smelling of urine. They CLEARLY wanted to leave as soon as we picked them up. No one communicated to us that either one of them had an issue. Both had to be taken to the vet right away as we did not know what happened. I called several times to see if anything abnormal happened and there was no answer. Our one pup was very guarded towards her brother and they made it seem like that was a bad thing. We were told the older pup (10+years), would be in an area with calmer, older dogs, however when we watched the video, he was in with the general population. Both pups are still trying to acclimate to their normal routine, but both are having some issues. Our younger one was completely potty trained prior to the boarding, and she has been having accidents in the house since she has been back. We measured out their food to the T and they came back with extra.
I honestly feel they had too many dogs at once and not enough staff. They don’t communicate when issues arrive. Unfortunately, we will no longer be...
