An Utterly Disappointing Evening at KC Steakhouse Our recent visit to KC Steakhouse in Batesville, MS, was, to put it mildly, an unmitigated disaster. After a perfectly lovely day out on the lake, we were looking forward to a relaxing dinner. Unfortunately, KC Steakhouse was the only place in town without a wait, and now we understand why. This establishment single-handedly managed to sour what was otherwise a beautiful family day. From the moment we walked through the door, the tone was set by a snooty hostess who clearly found our casual, post-lake attire beneath her. Her disdainful look was palpable, making us feel unwelcome before we even sat down. While we weren't in black-tie, we were certainly presentable, and her attitude was entirely uncalled for. First impressions, as they say, are everything, and KC Steakhouse failed spectacularly on that front. Things didn't improve much once we were seated. Our child's order arrived incorrect, a simple mistake that can happen, but it was just one more brick in the wall of a truly terrible experience. What really pushed us over the edge, however, was the complete lack of basic amenities. Our kids, after a day of fun, were thirsty and looking forward to their sodas. Imagine our collective frustration when we were informed that the restaurant had "run out" of soda. In a steakhouse? On a busy night? It felt less like an oversight and more like a gross mismanagement of inventory. And then came the bill, a final affront that cemented our decision to never return. Despite being a party of two adults and three children, a mandatory 18% gratuity was automatically added to our ticket, because we were a "party of five." Let me be clear: I am a firm believer in tipping generously for good service, and I would have happily given a 20% tip or more to a deserving waitstaff. But to have a gratuity assumed and imposed, especially after such a dismal experience, left a bitter taste. While our individual waiter tried his best and was genuinely pleasant, the overall "service" from the restaurant as a whole was far from deserving of any pre-determined gratuity. The indignities didn't end there. Our bill also included a 3.5% "convenience fee" for using a credit card. When I inquired about this, I was told it was simply the cost of doing business with plastic. Conveniently, they offered a 2% discount for cash payment. I had cash, but the math simply didn't add up. When pressed about the 1.5% discrepancy between the fee and the discount, the explanation was vague and unsatisfactory. It felt like a nickel-and-dime tactic designed to extract more money from unsuspecting customers. In conclusion, KC Steakhouse in Batesville, MS, offers an experience that is anything but convenient or enjoyable. From the unwelcoming hostess to the lack of soda, the automatic gratuity, and the inexplicable credit card fee, it's clear this establishment prioritizes their bottom line over customer satisfaction. Save yourself the headache, the frustration, and your hard-earned money. There's a reason they had no wait, and it’s a reason you’ll quickly discover if you make the mistake of...
Read moreI’m appalled. I’m mortified. I’m angry. We’re in Batesville MS for the weekend bc Roo has a tournament in Oxford this weekend. We decided to eat at The Kennel Club Steakhouse Batesville. BIGGEST MISTAKE! I ordered a pasta plate. My third bite I was in immense pain. At first I thought it was a hard piece of chicken but felt like metal. I spit onto a bread plate the bite & it was what appeared to be monofilament or some type of plastic with a piece of metal on the end. It BROKE my tooth! I honestly thought it was fishing line with some type of metal weight on it- they whisked it away quickly before I could really examine (keep in mind I’m in pain & kinda in shock that this just came out of my food). Roo, for whatever reason, took a quick picture with her phone before they took it. The waitress came back & brought the check (they did remove my dish) but they just wanted us to leave bc I’m sure they didn’t want the embarrassment of what just transpired to go any further. I asked to speak to the manager bc honestly it was extremely dangerous to have something like that in my food. What if it had went in a child’s & they choked on it? Someone in charge needed to be made aware. A lady named “Megan” came out & from the time she came to the table she was extremely rude. There was no apologies- she actually said she thought it came from us - bc I just love to go to a restaurant, wait 30 mins to be sat, then another 30 mins to get our food (I’m starving by this point) & then add metal to my food that I’ve been waiting on (remember this is my 3rd bite). I couldn’t believe what she was saying! She actually said “well it’s your word against mine”… what?!! There was no attempt to figure out what the object was, or where it came from. Honestly it could’ve been part of a bracelet from someone in the kitchen or off packaging, I honestly don’t know. What I do know is I’ve NEVER in my life been treated so rude. Megan (who claimed to also be the owner, but found out she’s the owners daughter) said the owner refused to come speak to us, he didn’t want to talk to us. Y’all, I’m sitting there with a broken tooth, nauseous & in pain & this lady is treating me like trash! What they did is dangerous & unacceptable! I’ve never made a post like this before & hopefully will never have to again. They ended up just telling us TO LEAVE! Mind you we have our 9 year old daughter with us who is also upset at this point. So on top of being publicly humiliated, I now get to spend goodness knows how much to fix my tooth. Please pray for me bc I’m upset & in pain & my head is spinning trying to figure out what...
Read moreOn 8/22, we visited the Kennel Club Steakhouse. We’ve been going every Tuesday evening for the past 3 weeks or so. Prior to that, it was more like every month. My permanent residence is in Texas. My fiancé lives in Batesville, Mississippi. On this particular visit, we decided on Shrimp Alfredo and I ordered Shrimp & Grits. We also had the shrimp appetizer and a salad. Unfortunately, the Alfredo sauce was like water on both entrees. We kindly asked if we could have it fixed. She took our food to the kitchen for approximately 15/20 minutes. The waitress came out and said she was NOT able to fix the sauce or replace the meal, and we either needed to leave or she would bring it back out and we were to eat it. So, here we’re our choices. 1. Eat the food the way it was brought out the first time or LEAVE in just that order, AND on top of all that we were to pay for it. Let me ADD, WE NEVER REFUSED TO PAY FOR OUR FOOD. We felt so sorry for the young waitress. She was just the messenger. Apparently, Katy is in charge of the restaurant. I can’t call her a manager because she is far from qualified from being a manager. Katy came to our table. Was extremely UGLY TO US. She told us to leave. We packed up our dinner to go and left. As we were walking out, we were approached by several waitresses that said she was HORRIBLE!!!! We planned on reaching out to the owners, but we’re told it would NOT do any good. Katy treated us like we were second class citizens. We are far from that. When our generation dies out, the next generation is in serious trouble. Such sad times in this world. We will report this to the Better Business Bureau. Let me tell you, I’ve ate at $400-$500 steak houses. This is by far the worst experience I have ever had in my LIFE. Katy, I know you’ll read this. DO BETTER!!! A little kindness goes a long ways. This could have been solved with a simple resolution. What does Alfredo cost? $10? We paid $70 for our meal and left very unhappy. She talks down to people. She has A LOT to learn in life. As we were leaving, she was peaking out the window. THIS WAS a very EVIL person. Her staff feels the same way. I’m appalled that owners would allow this behavior in...
