We purchased a small Norris home (The Little Woody) because we thought it would be faster to get into and were told they build a quality home. We really like the floor plan of this model and needed it fast. It turned out to be a big mistake. First, the home was a month later being delivered that the sales person lead us to believe it could be delivered in. 2nd, Clayton took 2 months to complete a total of 18 working days of work. Now, for Norris and the quality of their build I provide a few of the key details in our home. The craftsmanship of the finish and quality of the finish is very poor. Examples I will share are drywall corners significantly out of square to the point that even the repair folks couldn't completely square them. Arrived with 3 holes torn in the flooring. Over 40 feet of baseboard had to be replaced because paint was blistered/peeling straight from the factory. I don't know what electrical code they must meet but the following 2 items would not meet the NEC. 1) Microwave electrical receptacle plug cover plate missing, 2) this one even the Clayton maintenance person couldn't believe. Norris installed the switch for the laundry room ventilation fan in the furnace/water heater closet at 7 feet 2 inches off the floor. My wife has no chance of reaching it, which in itself makes it a code violation. Who installs a component switch outside the room from the component it controls?? Trim workmanship is apprentice quality at best and the trim itself is the cheap stuff, both inside and out. Norris takes little effort in protecting the interior from paint splatter. We are still working on paint spot removal from flooring, trim work, light fixtures and exterior doors. To sum up our disappointment in this purchase I will say, we've had 2 homes built onsite from foundation to finish in our lifetime and we should have built again. It may have cost a bit more but there would have been quality materials throughout and wouldn't need a stepstool to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOrdered a modular home it was supposed to be done in May did not get to our dealers law until August we did not get moved in until November due to so many issues. Norris and Clayton were both written letters about all the issues that weāve had neither have responded. I love the style of the home but the craftsmanship and quality of the work is not good itās like they rushed it or they donāt have professionals doing the different jobs. Itās the worst woodworking I have ever seen the door trim the crown molding in the baseboard so many gaps. The kitchen counter is out of level by quarter of an inch wood laminate flooring that we paid over almost $4000 for them has scratches and leveling spots dings countertops have scratches and chips you can see in the ceiling where the tape lines are thereās paint on the cabinetry in many places scuff marks in many placesWeāve been waiting for a refrigerator door Since August due to the one we received was totally scratched the refrigerator already doesnāt make regular ice it only dispenses crushed ice which I guess is a problem that will have to address to Frigidaire they use the cheapest appliances we are just disappointed or disappointed with the repairs that were done they were only like temporary fixes we are going to be at least a year if not more fixing the issues for a brand new house itās ridiculous I would not recommend this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe windows are so poorly insulated that in the winter there is frost on the INSIDE. The wind blows and our curtains move. Horrible construction.
The flooring is the cheapest vinyl and rips.
The cabinet was cut too short so there is a gap between the sink and the counter. Poor construction!
We have had drywallers out FOUR times still trying to get the drywall correct where the two sides connect. FOUR times!
There has been two times where the roof has leaked and we have had to do the repairs ourselves.
The plumbing on the INSIDE of the home is subpar at best. Drains are always clogging, toilets are always clogging and poor drainage which causes issues in the showers.
Keep in mind we do not have young kids, and we do understand normal wear and tear on homes but for us to be having so many building issues for a home that is only 2.5 years old is catastrophic in our minds.
We are already going to have to replace the dishwasher because the motor is going out.
The icemaker in the refrigerator is no longer working.
The refrigerator has such cheap shelves that the brackets are broken.
The shelves in the refrigerator are not wide enough for the space, therefore always falling causing us to loose food, and just makes a mess when everything falls...
