One of my favorite waterfalls on the North Shore, mostly due to accessibility (short walk from limited parking on Highway 1) and also because you can sit right next to it. My photo was taken in November 2018, which is a nice time to visit after the autumn crowds have retreated and the falls are partially frozen. If snow is on the ground I do recommend micro spikes and please be very careful in the area around the falls which requires sure footing and caution on rocks and near edges with steep drop offs.

I gem of a location not far from Hwy 61. Park at the designated parking lot and make your way down to the best cliff jumping spot on the North shore. Waters plenty deep. I've jumped dozens of times both sides of the creek, with my son in the red flag shorts. Pics are from the last couple year's... He's getting more brave every year. Enjoy your next adventure at illgen falls! Winter wonderland knowone to be sean or heard...

Pretty easy hike in. Trail isn't obvious in the winter but it's about 50 yards up the driveway from the State Forest Cabin. As you can see, yes, there IS WATER FLOWING under the ice, so be careful!

Gorgeous hidden gem about a mile or so off Hwy 61 on Hwy 1. Park on the gravel pull off on the left and then it's a short little hike (if you can call .10 of a mile a hike) to the falls. The trail is a bit rugged and does involve quite a few steps but it's worth it! The really nice thing is no one knows it's there! We had the entire vista to ourselves. The falls are just as beautiful as Gooseberry or Cascade but there's...
