I decided to run from the Belfast Harbormaster Marina to Bay Area Fitness, which is close to six miles total. I DON’T like running, but it was so worth it, when I came here. So, much I signed up for a week. It was an epic deal, even though I’m only in town for four days. When you go on their website, you’ll see how great of a deal this gym is.
If you’re traveling through Belfast and want to work out, forget about your hotel gym or, like me, the equipment on your boat. This place is worth every penny. The plethora of equipment, the space, the tanning, sauna, even a hot tub—dude, this place is not only nostalgic for what gyms were but what they should still be.
And, of course, the staff. Bryan was just on point with his customer service. He also bartends at Darby’s, which you’ll see a review from me for as well—an epic place. I ran into him there after signing up at the gym. Leslie the other staff I met during the weekend just on point either her customer service as well. Belfast Rocks

Read moreDropped in for a day pass to what is hands down one of the coolest gyms I've ever visited! When you step through the door, you step back in time into a real 80s/90s bodybuilding gym - competitor pictures on the walls, old Body Masters benches and RDL platform, massive set of prostyle dumbbells, and old school Hammer strength, as well as the legendary Nebula leg press and classic Cybex Hack. Continuing on, the gym opens into a warehouse that doubles as a living museum for some of the coolest, oldest, and rarest Nautilus, MedX, and other equipment out there. Truly the most impressive/extensive collection I've seen in a gym in the US! Equipment aside, everone was incredibly friendly. The staff was out on the floor lifting and chatting with members. The atmosphere was super welcoming to everyday gym goers and competitors alike. No doubt, this is where you go if you want a sense of community to push you towards your fitness goals! Thanks for the...
Read moreGreat gym! Everything you need. There are all kinds of machines for every muscle and organized on the floor by major muscle group. The free weight section is complete, such as you would expect at any major gym. There are also stationary bikes, elliptical machines, treadmills, stair climbers, and hiking trials behind the gym for cardio (see photo I took of map).
I bought a three month membership for $95 and had to fly out, one month in, for an unexpected trip, and the owner, Ed, was able to pause my membership while I was gone. I had to tell him before I left, and it's nice that they are flexible.
The gym has standard locker rooms and showers, a jacuzzi and coed sauna. There is a swimming pool, but it's seasonal. The upstairs area is for stretching, and there are tanning bed rooms there, but I've never used them. Overall,...
