Called this place because im new to the the boat world and dont know much about them , but just recently bought a 16ft 1988 cobia with a 120 force outboard engine on it , i called to see if they could run a compression test and tell me if if the boat will run or not and just tell me a little more about the boat , and they told me they wouldnt be interested in it and i asked so your not interested in making money? The lady replied , oh no we are just our mechanic is not interested in fixing the engine , but the reply i got our mechanic isnt interested in fixing the engine when i never even asked to fix the engine just tell me if it will run or not or tell me if i need a new engine , was unprofessional in my opinion, , you could have just said your to busy to take on new clients, or yes we can do the compression test but due to the age of the motor if it doesnt work it, we would have to replace the engine with a newer one , or just simply its to old we dont know how to work on it , or parts are unavailable, not tell a potential customer that your mechanic doesnt want to work , all i wanted was a quick inspection and compression test and if the engine was bad i would have payed to...
Read moreI should be rating a 0 but they tried to make it right but $1000 later out boat is broke. We took our boat in on 1/10 for a tune up...just because it's an older boat and we want to maintain it in the off season. $810 later we get the boat back and I got stranded in the springs. I could barely get boat off of trailer and had to anchor it in so my kids and I didn't float away. We took it in that very day and $220 later my carbs were "cleaned". When we got boat back on 2/27 we took it to the lake and had the same issue. We keep stalling in low idle and when we get it up to speed it works great. We told the mechanic and he wanted to make it right and said he would fix it and not charge us. That's why they get 3 stars but it is still not fixed! We picked up today and the same thing is happening...the thing that NEVER had happend to me before I took it in to Lake Weir Marine. I am now $1000.00 in the hole and have a...
Read moreI’m not new to boating but I’m new to boat ownership. I bought a used boat that needed its fair share of parts and work to be reliable. Monty has been super helpful and friendly for the process. I’ve purchased all parts so far with Lake Weir, he’s explained what to look for, what I need and why I need it. This is a great team at Lake Weir they’ve never pressured me to let them do the labor for a quick cash grab. I’ll continue to spend my money with them and in the future when something needs done out of my skill set you can bet the farm I’ll be taking it to them. Plus for an added bonus sometimes you get lucky and see...
