New England Bonsai Gardens — Local services in Bellingham

I came here last year (2019) and everyone was so nice and helpful. I was in the area again (September 2020) and was super excited to buy a new bonsai. I needed a new bonsai for my new office and thought I’d have the best quality and options here. Unfortunately, it appeared that there were no employees at all. I was there for over an hour looking at plants and no one greeted me, offered to assist me, or even spoke to me. And there was a dog at the gardens - just no employees. Very confusing. Also, many of the bonsai appeared damaged. Very disappointed. This is partially my fault, as I was excited and expected the same service as before. For me, this was an unexpected specialty shop to find in an out of the way spot. They have a lot of really interesting plants. They're very expensive but, considering the time invested in each item, I didn't think that's unreasonable.

My wife wanted to buy a few items to start her own plant at home but, unfortunately, couldn't get any service. We were there for about an hour. All around amazing! Incredible service and very nice staff! If you're concerned about safety, everyone wears masks it's all open air. I believe they also have an option to order online. We bought a Brazilian rain tree and a jade tree there and they were not only a great price but lovely little trees! The staff told us everything we needed to know to take care of it, and also encouraged us to email them with questions (which I did and they got back to me within the hour!)
